Explore Geochang Suseongdae: A Summer Escape

Geochang Suseongdae is a must-visit destination, especially during the summer months of July and August. With the scorching heat, you can cool off at the safe water play area under Suseongdae Bridge and enjoy the Geochang International Festival of Theatre!
Hello, I am Lee Won-pil from the Geochang Public Relations Reporter Group.
When summer arrives, Suseongdae comes to mind as one of Geochang's representative summer resorts. Not only can you enjoy water activities in a refreshing environment, but you can also indulge in culture and art by watching plays on summer nights, making it a perfect place to create unforgettable memories.
The main mode of transportation is public transport. I took a rural bus to reach Suseongdae.
The Geochang Rural Bus departs from the Seohung Passenger Terminal near Geochang Intercity Bus Terminal and travels through Geochang-eup to the direction of Suseongdae via Wicheon and Bukseong. The bus passes through the market entrance, the courthouse intersection, and in front of Hanmaum Library on its way to Suseongdae.
I boarded the bus from the courthouse intersection, and there were a few other passengers. The Kakao Bus app is convenient for checking bus stop locations and schedules.
As I watched the scenery outside the bus window, the journey became even more enjoyable.
Upon arriving at the Suseongdae bus stop, I got off right across the street from the entrance to the Suseongdae tourist area. It’s easy to find even when using public transportation.
As soon as I got off, I was greeted by the beautiful nature of Suseongdae. Visitors arriving by car or large bus can also conveniently utilize the parking facilities. The parking area is equipped with basic amenities such as electric vehicle charging stations and restrooms.
During the Geochang International Theatre Festival, parking can be crowded, so please use the designated parking lots! Parking is free for up to three hours, and entrance to Suseongdae is also free.
In the early morning, I noticed thorough disinfection measures being taken across Suseongdae to ensure a clean and safe environment for the many visitors who come to enjoy water activities in the summer.
The water play area opens at 9 AM, so it was relatively quiet before that. After 9 AM, I saw families and friends arriving to enjoy the water, and the atmosphere at Suseongdae began to buzz with excitement.
There are safety personnel stationed throughout the water play area, allowing visitors to enjoy their time with peace of mind. The clear stream flows gently, and the sound of cicadas fills the air.
Whether you prefer a quiet spot, dipping your feet in the water, or watching others play, the environment is refreshing.
For safety, please adhere to the water play rules to prevent accidents. Life jackets are available for free rental, which helps prevent safety incidents, so be sure to wear one!
There’s also a CPR experience area, which would be a great activity to do with kids.
While swimming is prohibited around Turtle Rock due to deep water and swift currents, the area remains a beautiful spot to visit any time. The flowing stream and the surrounding trees provide a calming view, and each season offers a different landscape to enjoy.
At Yosujeong, take a moment to relax and enjoy the picturesque scenery. The Geochang Fire Station operates a summer emergency response team at Suseongdae to quickly respond to any water-related incidents, ensuring visitors can relax and enjoy their time.
The Suseongdae Forest Playground offers various play equipment that kids will love, providing a fun space for them to run around. There are also delicious snacks available, making it enjoyable to choose from different food options.
This summer, don’t miss the chance to enjoy water activities and theatre performances at Suseongdae. Experience the joy of culture and nature together!
