Located next to Dongam Seowon in Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do, Nonsan Hanok Village is a top emotional healing destination that beautifully blends traditional Korean culture with modern conveniences.

On June 13, 2026, I participated in the 'Relaxation in Hanok' wellness program at Nonsan Hanok Village, which featured a singing bowl and aroma yoga experience.

After learning yoga and encountering the singing bowl, I felt inspired to explore it further, and this opportunity was perfect.

Nonsan Hanok Village offers free wellness experience programs, so be sure to check them out regularly!

The village is divided into two areas: the cultural experience space (1-chon) and accommodation facilities (2 and 3-chon).

In 1-chon, various wellness programs such as crafts, meditation, and aroma therapy are regularly offered.

It is conveniently located just a 3-4 minute walk from the UNESCO World Heritage site, Dongam Seowon, making it easy to explore both places.

This hidden gem allows for genuine relaxation and healing in a lush natural setting.

Today, the beautiful lines of the hanok feel even more enchanting under the warm sunlight.

I arrived at the 1-chon hanok's daecheongmaru for the singing bowl and aroma yoga experience, and many participants had already arrived early for the 2 PM start.

The singing bowl, a traditional instrument and meditation tool, produces clear and long vibrations when struck or rubbed.

Its origins date back approximately 2,500 years, used by Buddhist practitioners in Tibet, Nepal, and India for meditation and rituals.

There are two types of singing bowls based on their material and manufacturing method: metal singing bowls and crystal singing bowls.

Metal singing bowls are handcrafted by artisans using an alloy of over seven metals, including gold, silver, copper, and iron, making them quite expensive.

They produce a deep, resonant sound often used in meditation and sound therapy.

Recently, crystal singing bowls have become popular as well; they are made from pure natural quartz and produce a clear sound, often used alongside metal bowls for chakra cleansing and sound baths.

Along with singing bowls, we also experienced the ocean drum and Koshi chime.

The ocean drum creates soothing sounds reminiscent of ocean waves as small metal beads inside roll from side to side.

The Koshi chime produces a crystal-like sound when gently shaken, featuring eight precisely tuned metal rods.

Our instructor for today was Park Bo-jeong, who runs Daom Yoga in Daejeon and has over 20 years of experience in yoga and meditation.

It was a pleasure to have such a knowledgeable instructor for this free experience at Nonsan Hanok Village.

The vibrations and sounds from the singing bowls were fascinating, and I learned how to use them effectively.

After the yoga session, I felt deeply relaxed and even dozed off during the final relaxation stage.

The experience at Nonsan Hanok Village made me want to learn more about yoga and wellness.

The impression left by Instructor Park's warm smile and thoughtful guidance will stay with me for a long time.

I highly recommend the 'Relaxation in Hanok' program for anyone interested in wellness experiences.

Here are some moments captured during the experience:
