Recently, with the hot weather and rain, I was pondering where to go indoors with my child when I stumbled upon a very special place.

It's the Dangjin Library, part of the Chungcheongnam-do Office of Education.

This isn't just a place to borrow books; it's a cultural space where the whole family can engage with culture and art. I was truly impressed.

As soon as we entered the library, we were welcomed by a beautiful exhibition of original illustrations from picture books. It felt like stepping into a small art gallery, with the theme of a library filled with art.

From the moment we walked in, my heart felt light, and I was in a great mood. My child couldn't take their eyes off the colorful illustrations, gazing at them with curiosity.

My favorite space was undoubtedly the children's reading room on the first floor. We entered together and read books. It was such a cozy and comfortable space, perfectly designed for children to become friends with books.

Instead of a stiff atmosphere, there were soft sofas and cute chairs at children's eye level, along with spacious desks, which made it very satisfying.

Seeing my child choose a book they liked and settle into the sofa, reading intently, brought a smile to my face.

The Dangjin Library has created an optimal environment for reading, showing its thoughtful consideration for children.

Especially in the children's reading room, there is a program called 'Character Picture Book Playground' for children aged 5 to 7, which is actively running.

This engaging program includes reading fun character picture books together and various post-reading activities, taking place every Saturday morning from 10:30 AM for an hour.

This year, there will be four sessions, and even if you missed the first half of the year, you can sign up for the third session on August 18, Tuesday, starting at 10 AM on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to mark your calendars!

The final fourth session will also begin registration on October 19, Monday, at 10 AM, so keeping track of the schedule will be very useful.

This is a wonderful weekend program that combines character education and fun activities, and I highly recommend it.

Here are some useful tips to know before visiting the library. The children's reading room and the general reading room on the first floor are open on weekdays from 9 AM to 6 PM and until 5 PM on Saturdays.

The self-study room on the second floor operates until 9 PM on weekdays, making it a perfect space for those who want to study in peace.

Remember that the library is closed on Sundays and legal holidays, so you won't make a wasted trip.

Reading books in the library is free for everyone, but if you want to borrow them, you need to register as a member. After registering on the library's PC, you can present the necessary documents to the staff at the information desk, and they will issue you a lovely membership card.

You can borrow up to 20 books for 14 days, making it easy for the whole family to take home books to enjoy!

Another charm of the Dangjin Library is the eco-friendly cultural space, the book café 'Green Wing.' The name 'Green' represents an environmentally conscious space, while 'Wing' symbolizes creativity and freedom, suggesting the beautiful wings of imagination.

Special programs are also held here, including a barista certification course for adults every Monday morning, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 AM to 3 PM, club members offer warm, fragrant free coffee to library users.

Just imagining a book café filled with the scent of books and coffee makes me feel all my fatigue melt away.

Don't miss the cozy atmosphere of the library, where you can enjoy a warm cup of coffee while reading a book.

Additionally, there’s a corner where children can freely draw and color, ensuring there’s never a dull moment.

If you ever find yourself short on coloring paper, feel free to ask the office, and they will kindly provide some.

Let’s all use these shared resources beautifully and keep them organized!

The library also features a neatly arranged magazine corner where you can easily browse the latest magazines.

With convenient tablet and laptop rental services, it truly feels like a smart library.

There’s also a warm, contemplative space called 'Your Sentences' where you can quietly write down meaningful phrases, perfect for taking a peaceful break in a busy day.

Spending half a day at the library filled my heart with joy. If you’re looking for a great indoor place to go with your child this summer, be sure to visit the Dangjin Library!

The Dangjin Library is a joyful playground for children and a comfortable space for adults to relax and learn.

This weekend, why not set down your smartphone, hold your child's hand, and embark on a delightful reading adventure at the Dangjin Library?
