Celebrating the 19th Geochang Dano Festival

As we embrace the lushness of early summer, we are excited to announce the 19th Geochang Dano Festival, held on the 5th day of the lunar month, a time to experience the beauty and joy of our traditional culture.
The festival will take place at the Geochang Changpo Garden! It features traditional music performances, various cultural experiences, and even a poetry contest.

Experience the 21st National Poetry Contest, where enthusiasts from across the country gather to showcase their literary skills.
Theme: 登居昌加祚懸垂橋
Format: Seven-character regulated verse
Award Ceremony: Scheduled for 4:30 PM on the same day (total prize money of 6.6 million won)
Understanding the Origin and Customs of Dano:
Dano, also known as Suritnal or Cheonjungjeol, is a major traditional holiday in Korea, celebrating the end of rice planting and the anticipation of a bountiful harvest. This festival offers a chance to experience refreshing traditional customs, including a fan exhibition and hands-on activities.
Activities include washing hair with changpo water and drinking mugwort juice, reflecting our ancestors' wisdom in health management.
Enjoy traditional games like swing rides and wrestling, which were once vibrant community activities during Dano.
Health Experience Booth:
A health check booth will be available, where visitors can receive care from the Ear Acupressure Service Team, alleviating fatigue through gentle stimulation of ear points.
Participate in various traditional experience booths under the green canopies, perfect for families to create memories together.
Make changpo soap, a popular activity that connects modern experiences with ancient wisdom for skin care.
Craft colorful jangmyeongru bracelets, symbolizing health and well-being, using five colors of thread.
Create unique fans to combat the summer heat, painting flowers or writing meaningful phrases on a white fan.
