As autumn deepens, vibrant colors are appearing everywhere.
Chungbuk is home to many famous autumn foliage spots,
and the university campus is also adorned with beautiful fall colors.
This time, instead of a well-known travel destination,
let me introduce you to Korea National University of Education in Cheongju, where you can stroll through the autumn campus and enjoy a special exhibition.
Located in a quiet area of Gangnae-myeon, Cheongju,
the university greets visitors with its stunningly colored foliage from the moment you enter through the main gate.
Ginkgo trees and other unnamed trees line the paths,
their leaves turning vibrant shades of red and yellow.
The trees within the campus are also beautifully colored.
The rate at which they change color varies by location;
the ginkgo trees in shady spots still have some green leaves,
while those in sunny areas have already started to shed their leaves.
Maple trees are also occasionally spotted,
their leaves turning a brilliant red,
making the walk enjoyable as various types of trees line the paths.
Although some trees still show plenty of green,
they will soon don their autumn hues.
As late afternoon approaches, the yellow of the ginkgo trees becomes more pronounced.
These trees flourish at both the front and back gates,
with the back gate adorned with many banners,
making the front gate a perfect spot for viewing the autumn colors.
While the ginkgo trees bask in the autumn sun,
they look beautiful, but their fruit has a rather unpleasant smell.
Be cautious when passing areas where the fruit has fallen,
as the smell lingers for quite a while.
As of November 4, the shaded areas are a bit late in changing color,
but other trees have changed significantly,
so this weekend might be the best time to witness their beauty.
The Korea National University of Education hosts a special exhibition
at the Education Museum,
titled "Everyone, Anytime, Anywhere: Dreaming of New Education,"
running until January 30, 2027.
Entering the first-floor lobby of the Education Museum and heading right,
you will find the exhibition space.
This exhibition reflects on the changes in schools and learning since the 1990s,
showcasing the evolution of classrooms, schools, and the daily lives of teachers and students.
Visitors can also express their thoughts on education,
answering questions like, "If you had a magical opportunity to change our education,
what would you change first?"
You can also experience a recreated classroom and teacher's office from the 1980s and 90s,
which captures the dynamic transformation of Korean society during that time.
Explore how education has evolved through this engaging exhibition.
Stroll through the beautifully colored paths of the campus
and enjoy the romantic atmosphere of autumn while visiting this special exhibition.
