A Scenic Getaway: Exploring Gapyeong's Nature and Culture

When you want a light escape from Seoul, one of the first destinations that comes to mind is Gapyeong.
With its lush nature and charming tourist attractions, it has consistently been a beloved weekend getaway.
This time, I will introduce a Gapyeong driving course visited with a Hyundai electric vehicle!
Early Summer Gapyeong Driving Course:
Jara Island (3 minutes from Gapyeong Station, 1.4km) → Petit France & Italian Village (23 minutes by car, 15km) → Slow Park Amusement Park (22 minutes by car, 14km)
1. Jara Island
Located at 60 Jara Island-ro, Gapyeong-eup, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do
Operating Hours: Open year-round
Admission Fee: Free (Note: Entrance fee during festival periods, e.g., Jara Island Flower Festa 7,000 KRW)
Parking: Available (Free)
The driving course begins at Jara Island.
Situated on the Bukhan River, Jara Island offers expansive natural scenery and walking paths, making it a popular spot from spring to early summer.
Jara Island is divided into three main areas: Jungdo, Seodo, and Namdo.
Seodo features a camping site managed by the Gapyeong Facilities Management Corporation, where you can reserve caravans and camping sites.
Bicycle rental is also available, so on a nice day, you can rent a bike and explore the island!
Jungdo has a large sports field and walking paths, serving as a pathway to Namdo.
Namdo is the most visited area of Jara Island, where you can enjoy a 'Flower Garden' showcasing various seasonal flowers.
Thanks to the natural scenery and walking paths along the Bukhan River, it’s a great place to feel the relaxed charm of Gapyeong.
2. Petit France & Italian Village
Located at 1063 Hoban-ro, Cheongpyeong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun and 619-1 Goseong-ri, Cheongpyeong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun
Operating Hours: 09:00 - 18:00 (Hours may vary by season and weather, open year-round)
Parks on a hill overlooking Cheongpyeong Lake, Petit France and the Italian Village offer a charming European village atmosphere.
Admission Fees: Petit France: 12,000 KRW for adults/teens, 10,000 KRW for children; Italian Village: 12,000 KRW for adults/teens, 10,000 KRW for children; Combined Ticket: 19,500 KRW for adults, 16,000 KRW for children.
Travel Tip: Purchasing a combined ticket for Petit France and the Italian Village is a great way to save!
Petit France is themed around 'Flowers, Stars, and The Little Prince,' featuring colorful buildings and quaint alleys.
From the Etoile Park Observatory and the Bell Tower of Love, you can enjoy panoramic views of Cheongpyeong Lake and the surrounding scenery.
3. Slow Park Amusement Park
Located at 173 Hacheon-ri, Cheongpyeong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun
Operating Hours: Open year-round
Admission Fee: Free
Parking: Available (Free)
The last place to introduce is Slow Park Amusement Park, a serene spot to spend time in nature.
Located by the Jojeongcheon River flowing into the Bukhan River, it offers a beautiful riverside and mountain scenery.
If you want to enjoy quiet nature rather than crowded tourist spots, Gapyeong is a great travel destination.
Enjoy the various attractions of Gapyeong and the beautiful early summer scenery!
