With the cool autumn breeze,
the leaves change color and the fruits ripen.
This is the perfect time for a trip.
I visited the mural village of Wonnam-myeon,
where I could feel the warmth of the past.
The murals along Bocheon Road capture the essence of the 70s and 80s.
The charming little village exudes a retro vibe,
making it a delightful place to stroll around.
The first thing I encountered was an old barbershop,
with a mural sign seamlessly integrated into the wall.
The scenery, with its worn-out antenna, faded blue gate,
and slowly turning barber shop sign,
evoked memories of the 70s and 90s,
making me feel like I had traveled back in time.
An old village bus and a standing tractor added to the retro atmosphere.
The single-story red and blue brick houses also contributed
to the nostalgic feel of the place.
On the wall next to a faded sign supermarket,
there was a mural depicting everyday scenes of people
using the local transport.
It was heartwarming to see the cherished memories
of the village elders captured on the wall.
In front of the local agricultural cooperative,
a mural of Bocheon Station filled an entire wall,
showing a train racing through beautiful fields and mountains.
Although passenger service stopped in 2007,
the mural keeps the memories alive.
A low tiled wall featured slogans from the 70s
and a mural of the nostalgic 'Pony' car.
As I walked along the alley,
I encountered red phone booths and children playing games.
The expressions of the joyful kids were captured so delicately,
making the memories of that simple and warm time feel alive.
The mural village also has many local restaurants
that have become popular among travelers.
One can also find the long-standing Bocheon Brewery,
famous for its local makgeolli.
If you're interested in tasting freshly made makgeolli,
it’s worth a visit.
As I stepped away from the main road and onto the riverside path,
the cherry trees were already dressed in autumn colors.
Feeling the change of the season,
I concluded my leisurely stroll in the mural village.
