Enjoying Rural Experiences in the City

2026 Paju Urban Agriculture Expo

A fun urban farming experience for everyone, from kids to adults!

Our family outing to the 5th Paju Urban Agriculture Expo!

The weather has been nice lately, perfect for outdoor activities!

So last weekend, we visited the 5th Paju Urban Agriculture Expo held at the Unjeong Health Park water playground!

Rural experiences in the city were something we were all looking forward to.

It was even better than we expected, filled with sights and activities that made the day fly by.

Today, I’ll honestly and vividly share our family's experience at the Paju Urban Agriculture Expo!

Setting off for Unjeong Health Park!

The expo took place over three days, from September 18 to September 20, 2026, at the Unjeong Health Park.

Parking was available at the nearby Unjeong Lake Park, making it easy to find.

As we walked towards the entrance, colorful banners and the fresh scent of grass welcomed us.

Many families were visiting, with parents holding their children's hands and seniors enjoying the festival atmosphere.

The 'Exhibition Area' and the fascinating scarecrow contest were visually delightful.

Upon entering the venue, we first visited the exhibition area showcasing works by urban agriculture managers.

The creativity and effort of the experts were impressive, sparking admiration.

We learned great interior tips, realizing how beautifully plants can thrive in small spaces like balconies or gardens.

The highlight for the kids was the scarecrow contest!

From traditional to modern designs, the variety of scarecrows on display was exciting.

We had fun taking photos, with our child mimicking scarecrow poses for some great shots!

Finally, we moved to the much-anticipated experience area!

The expo offered diverse family gardening experiences, including making leafy gardens and multi-purpose flower frames.

Among them, we were most excited about the 'Rose Basket Making Experience'.

Sitting at the experience table, the gentle scent of roses filled the air.

The instructor kindly explained how to handle flowers, including cutting stems at an angle and balancing them in the oasis.

At first, I worried if I could make something beautiful, but following the instructor's advice, I gradually created a lovely flower basket.

It was gratifying to see my child fully engaged, touching the soil and flowers.

We took a family photo with our finished rose basket, and the colorful flowers made for a bright picture.

We brought the basket home, filling our living room with the fragrant rose scent, reminding us of the expo.

In addition to the rose basket experience, there were unique activities like traditional makgeolli brewing and flower pressing that kept the whole family entertained.

Before visiting, here's a tip! Popular gardening experiences require advance reservations!

Due to their popularity, some experiences at the expo require online reservations.

While many experiences accept on-site registration, the rose basket making was so popular that it filled up quickly!

If you want to enjoy a leisurely experience with your family, I recommend making a reservation for next year's expo.

Lastly, we visited the promotional area filled with healthy food and information.

This area featured booths for young farmers, local rice, and local food.

We encountered fresh, healthy produce grown by young farmers from the Paju area.

We explored local rice and food products and sampled some, purchasing a few fresh local produce.

As urban dwellers, we rarely get a chance to think deeply about farming, making this a meaningful educational experience for our children.

The 5th Paju Urban Agriculture Expo was a rich festival where everyone could participate and enjoy.

I will always remember the moment we created a unique piece together during the rose basket making experience.

The conversations we had while handling soil and flowers, and the laughter during the exciting performances became unforgettable memories for our family.

If you want to feel nature and experience special rural activities and gardening education, I highly recommend visiting next year's Paju Urban Agriculture Expo!

It was perfect for outings with children, partners, or parents!

Escape the busy city and enjoy the green nature with your loved ones, creating unforgettable green memories!
