What is Namsan 'Korean Forest Garden'?
This area, which was once home to foreign residences, has been restored through the 'Namsan Regeneration Project' in the 1990s. Since its establishment in 1997, it has served as a green space where citizens can experience nature and the changing seasons up close.
The Namsan Outdoor Botanical Garden, a representative green space in downtown Seoul, will be newly transformed into a 'Korean Forest Garden' spanning approximately 30,000 square meters, opening on June 27 (Saturday).

The Korean Forest Garden is a space that captures the emotions and beauty of Korean gardens based on the natural environment of Namsan.
It features various garden elements inspired by traditional forests from across the country, enhancing the lush planting of the existing outdoor botanical garden.
Visitors can encounter representative Korean trees and native plants such as plum trees, crape myrtle, and bamboo, and experience the four seasons of Namsan along naturally connected walking paths.
The Korean Forest Garden consists of 11 gardens under three themes:
- Tradition and Culture
- Nature and Ecology
- Rest and Relaxation
Each garden is inspired by traditional Korean sites, offering a unique experience of tranquility and beauty.
Opening Day Program
On the opening day, June 27, various experiences will be held alongside the 'Namsan Summer Festival'.
Free participation is available for all activities, including:
- High-quality guided tours (pre-registration required)
- Traditional mother-of-pearl butterfly fan making (on-site participation)
- Tattoo sticker experience (on-site participation)
