Autumn Forest Trails Perfect for Family Walks
Paju Yulgok Arboretum
On a day when I wanted to feel the autumn breeze and take a leisurely walk,
I visited the Yulgok Arboretum located in Paju City.
The day I visited was a clear weekday with bright sunshine.
The parking lot had plenty of space, allowing for a relaxed stroll.
Yulgok Arboretum is a forest complex established by Paju City to preserve plant genetic resources and introduce various plants to the public.
Since its official opening, it has become a beloved natural retreat, featuring themed gardens, forest trails, observation decks, and forest healing programs.
The visitor center was the first thing I noticed, with its tidy surroundings.
In front of the visitor center, I found a map of the entire arboretum and information about the walking routes.
During my visit, both parking and admission were free.
The arboretum offers a variety of trails, from light walks around the themed gardens to forest paths leading to observation decks, barefoot walking trails, and clay paths.
After checking the barefoot walking trail map, it’s best to choose a course based on your fitness level and the time you have available.
If you’re with family, exploring the themed gardens is a great option, while those who enjoy walking should follow the forest trails to reach the observation deck.
After passing the visitor center and crossing a wooden bridge, I ventured deeper into the arboretum.
The initial walking paths were relatively flat, making it easy to enjoy the surrounding scenery.
I could feel the change of seasons as I walked, with distant mountains and trees gradually transforming into autumn colors.
The paths were lined with silver grasses and small autumn flowers, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
With plenty of picturesque spots, it’s perfect for taking photos while enjoying a leisurely time with family or friends.
As I walked, I spotted a small pond and fountain nestled among the trees.
The natural integration of the surroundings was impressive, creating a serene atmosphere.
The sound of rustling leaves and gentle water added to the tranquility of the space.
Inside the arboretum, there is a clay experience area where visitors can walk barefoot on natural clay.
This unique experience allows you to feel the texture of the earth, which is quite special.
Before using the area, it's advisable to check for any foot injuries and warm up properly.
If it rains or the clay is frozen, please follow on-site guidance.
Right in front of the clay experience area, there are clean facilities for washing your feet.
If you plan to try the clay experience or barefoot walking, bringing a small towel for drying your feet is a good idea.
The arboretum features numerous resting spots and benches, allowing for a leisurely stroll at your own pace.
If you want to feel the autumn atmosphere close to home with family or friends, how about taking a slow walk at Yulgok Arboretum?
