Inside Songpa’s Beloved Dessert Spot, Pongsil Cake

This visit to Pongsil Cake in Songpa started with a personal recommendation and quickly turned into a memorable dessert experience.
Known for its Dubai chewy cookie and salted vanilla chiffon sandwich, the shop focuses on balanced sweetness and thoughtful textures.
Despite being takeout-only, Pongsil Cake stood out for its sincerity in ingredients and strong menu identity.
A Dessert Shop I Had to Check Out
Recently, the owner of my nail salon highly recommended a local dessert shop.
It turned out that many of my friends already knew it from Instagram, so my curiosity naturally grew.
Even though I’m not usually a fan of Dubai chewy cookies, I decided to try it myself.
Basic Information and Location
The shop is Pongsil Cake, located at 12 Baekjegobun-ro 33-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
It’s about a five-minute walk from Exit 2 of Seokchon Tomb Station.
Business hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and the shop is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Delivery, reservations, and takeout are all available.
First Impressions of the Space
The exterior immediately gave off a cute and fluffy vibe, perfectly matching the shop’s name.
There isn’t a large sign outside, so it can be slightly tricky to find at first.
Once you recognize the exterior, though, it becomes easy to spot.

Takeout-Only but Photo-Friendly
Although there are tables and chairs inside, they are mainly decorative.
Unfortunately, eating inside is not allowed, so everything is strictly takeout or delivery.
The interior is small but well-organized, and the dessert showcase near the entrance makes choosing fun.
As a bonus, they also serve Fritz coffee.
Dubai Chewy Cookie Review
The famous Dubai chewy cookie was almost sold out when I visited around 12:30 PM.
I managed to grab only a few before they were gone.
When I cut one in half at home, the thin marshmallow layer made a satisfying snapping sound.
Texture and Flavor Details
The marshmallow was fluffy, lightly dusted with cocoa powder for subtle sweetness.
Inside, a pistachio spread mixed with kadaif created a unique texture.
The kadaif stayed surprisingly crispy, not soggy, and paired well with the moist spread.
Overall, it felt luxurious without being overly sweet.
Salted Vanilla Chiffon Sandwich Steals the Spotlight
Personally, the salted vanilla chiffon sandwich suited my taste even more.
This is the menu item that truly made the shop famous.
If you love vanilla, this one feels essential.

Why It Became the Best Menu
The chiffon cake is filled generously with vanilla cream, topped with salty crumble and vanilla powder.
The cream is quite thick, so you need to be careful when opening the box.
Each bite delivers smooth vanilla chantilly cream and rich vanilla ganache.
The salty crumble balances the richness perfectly, making it hard to stop eating.
Menu Variety and Ordering Tips
The menu changes daily, which keeps things interesting.
Chiffon sandwich flavors include vanilla, crispy chocolate, caramel, raspberry, and more.
They also offer cakes like mango cake, rare chocolate cake, carrot cake, and banana pudding.
Checking their Instagram before visiting is highly recommended to see the daily lineup.
Reservations and Delivery Notes
You can purchase up to six items per person, and reservations help avoid sold-out disappointments.
If visiting isn’t possible, delivery through Baedal Minjok is available.
However, prices are slightly higher than in-store pickup.
If you live nearby, takeout can save you around 400 to 500 won.
Final Thoughts on Pongsil Cake
Both the Dubai chewy cookie and the chiffon sandwich felt carefully made and thoughtfully balanced.
Pongsil Cake isn’t flashy, but its sincerity toward ingredients and fundamentals stood out.
If you’re around Songpa or Jamsil and craving a well-made dessert, this is a spot worth visiting.
