Discovering a Beautiful Cake at Gangnam Shinsegae

While exploring the B1 Sweet Park at Shinsegae Department Store in Gangnam, I spotted a stunning cake.
I stopped in my tracks and decided to buy it. Although it was from a brand I had never heard of before, its beauty compelled me to give it a try. Haha, read on to find out how it tasted!
As I walked, this beautifully designed cake caught my eye, so I followed my instinct and headed over.
The ordering area looked like this.
They only sell cakes here, with no other beverages available.
They even sell ice packs for easy transportation.
The cake options included:
- Pistachio Shoto Half Cake - 31,200 KRW
- Chocolat Black Shoto Half Cake - 27,500 KRW
- Strawberry Shoto No. 1 - 59,000 KRW
- Strawberry Shoto Slice Cake - 12,300 KRW
As I browsed, I noticed that Shoto has received a remarkable four Blue Ribbons! The Blue Ribbon is essentially a mark given only to excellent eateries, which made me even more eager to taste their cake.
They also sell Dacquoise, including:
- Salty Caramel Dacquoise - 4,300 KRW
- Raspberry Dacquoise - 4,200 KRW
- Earl Grey Dacquoise - 4,200 KRW
- Hazelnut Dacquoise - 4,500 KRW
- Green Tea Dacquoise - 4,300 KRW
However, I personally don't know what Dacquoise tastes like, so I didn't buy any.
They also had:
- Chocolate Strawberry Shoto No. 1 - 61,500 KRW
- Brownie - 5,800 KRW
- Condensed Milk Caramel Pudding - 4,800 KRW
- Chopera (Roll) - 25,500 KRW
I think Shoto's packaging is quite pretty, making it a nice gift option.
I ended up buying the Strawberry Shoto cake.
Once I returned to my car and opened the shopping bag, I found the cake beautifully packaged in a box.
Upon opening the box, a stunning cake was revealed!
The sides were packed with strawberries, and it tasted just as good as it looked.
The cream felt like animal-based whipped cream, which was not heavy at all. The cake was incredibly moist, and the seasonal strawberries were sweet, creating a delightful combination with the cake and cream.
Gangnam may be busy, but it seems to have an abundance of delicious treats.
While it takes a lot of effort to come to Gangnam, I can't help but envy those who live here and can enjoy these desserts every day.
Today, I discovered a fantastic strawberry cake at the Sweet Zone of Shinsegae in Gangnam and will return home with great memories.
I can already sense a massive traffic jam ahead, haha. Just to note, this review is entirely based on my own experience!
Thank you to everyone who read this far. I'll be back with more delicious finds next time!
