A Delightful Visit to Gabaerangsong Cafe in Insadong
During a date with a friend in Jongno, I visited the much-talked-about Gabaerangsong Cafe in Insadong.
Located in the heart of Insadong, it was easily accessible and has become a popular spot for those seeking trendy cafes in the area. I was filled with anticipation as I arrived.
Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious atmosphere created by large windows letting in soft sunlight. It was the kind of place where just sipping a drink could lift your spirits. If you're looking for a cafe with a unique ambiance in Insadong, I highly recommend this spot.
I ordered the strawberry bingsu (15,500 KRW) and jujube tea (6,500 KRW). Many people think of bingsu when they think of Insadong, and this cafe is already famous for its Insadong Bingsu or Ssamji-gil Bingsu, which heightened my expectations.
When the strawberry bingsu arrived, its beautiful presentation was immediately satisfying. Topped with fresh strawberries, the finely shaved ice was incredibly soft. With the first bite, I thought, 'This is truly exceptional.' The balance of sweet and tangy flavors was delightful, making it hard to stop eating. I felt so happy to enjoy such delicious bingsu near Ssamji-gil in Insadong, and I understood why people recommend this cafe.
The jujube tea was rich with a homemade feel, featuring a deep aroma. The first sip revealed the luxurious sweetness and scent of jujube, instantly soothing the day's fatigue. It complemented the bingsu surprisingly well, with the cold sweetness of the bingsu blending seamlessly with the warm comfort of the tea. Anyone who enjoys traditional beverages will be particularly satisfied.
Another charm of this place is its interior. The third floor has a bright and refreshing atmosphere due to its large windows, while the second floor offers a completely different vibe.
It felt like a vacation spot, comfortably decorated, even featuring hammocks, which provided a unique sense of relaxation in the city. This is a great point for those who enjoy such an ambiance. Whether chatting with friends, quietly reading a book alone, or relaxing with family, this space suits all occasions. Moreover, they mentioned a rooftop is soon to be completed, which I believe will make this cafe a new hotspot in Insadong.
The most special aspect is the 'homemade desserts.' The owner personally makes all the desserts, which might explain the deep flavors that are hard to find in other cafes. Each dessert showcases the natural taste of the ingredients without artificial sweetness, resulting in high-quality treats. The bingsu, in particular, was not just about syrup; the freshness of the fruit and the harmony of homemade sauces were evident, offering a distinct quality.
