Places to Visit in Ulsan with Kids This Winter

A Fun Family Ice Skating Experience

A Great Place to Spend Time with Family

Hello!

This is Jeongwon Choi from the Ulsan City Blog Reporter Team.

Today, I would like to introduce you to a great place in Ulsan where you can enjoy outdoor ice skating: the Fun Ice Rink.

This facility offers outdoor skating that kids will love. The prices are quite affordable, and the facility has been getting cleaner and better each year.

This year, there are more staff members on site, which shows their commitment to accident prevention. With ample parking, food corners, and resting areas, it's a perfect spot for family visits.

Located at: 1218-3 Okdong, Nam-gu, Ulsan

Operating Hours: 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM

The parking lot is spacious, as it shares space with the Munsu Swimming Pool, so you won't have to worry about parking when visiting with kids. There are even electric vehicle charging stations near the entrance!

The operating period varies each year, but this year it will be open until February 18. Usually, it closes after the Lunar New Year.

Although the original closing date was the 8th, they have extended the operation. I recommend calling ahead for confirmation!

The ice rink is located within Ulsan Grand Park, near a soccer field, with a wide open space suitable for cycling or riding scooters.

As you approach the soccer field, you'll see the entrance to the Fun Ice Rink, which has been clearly marked this year. The ticket booth is straight ahead.

You can enter even if you visit on the day, so feel free to drop by!

There are three main areas: a sledding area, a skating area, and a toboggan run. They operate six sessions a day, usually allowing for 1.5 hours of use followed by a 30-minute maintenance period to keep the ice quality pristine.

For younger children, the sledding area is perfect, and it has been expanded compared to last year.

Only figure skates are available for rental, but you can also skate without renting equipment. I brought my own skates, so I only needed to pay the usage fee.

Various sizes of skates are available, and since figure skates support the ankle, they are easier to balance on. If you find it difficult, there are cute support devices like penguins and crocodiles!

Lockers are available for personal belongings, and the floor is covered with grass carpet, making it easy to move around without slipping.

The staff is very friendly and helps you find the right size skates, offering exchanges if they're too big or small.

The rink layout has improved, with one side designated for skating and the other for sledding. Adults wearing crampons can also join children in the sledding area.

Before entering, protective gear is essential. There are three sizes of helmets available, and you must wear gloves as well.

If you forget to bring gloves, you will need to purchase them to enter!

The sledding area next to the rink is longer than expected, with clean tubes available for thrill-seeking kids and adults. Safety personnel are stationed at various points to ensure a safe experience.

The concession stand has expanded from only being outdoors last year to now having an indoor area as well. There are more tables this year, making it comfortable to eat rather than sitting on the floor.

After skating and sweating, a warm cup of tea or a bowl of ramen is incredibly satisfying!

A small photo zone is also available, capturing the winter vibe and the essence of the Fun Ice Rink. I arrived early in the morning to see how it felt, and it was great with fewer people and a pleasant atmosphere!

In conclusion, the Fun Ice Rink is a wonderful place to create memories and take photos with your kids. The facilities have improved compared to last year, making it an excellent spot for families to enjoy skating and snacks together.

Not just for young children, but adults can also have a great time. I had a blast!

Thank you for reading my review of the Fun Ice Rink!
