Pohang's Newest Hot Spot: Hwanho Park Botanical Garden

Pohang's new hot spot,
Hwanho Park Botanical Garden
"Did you know there's a new hot spot in Pohang?"
Intrigued, I immediately set out to explore.
Hwanho Park Botanical Garden opened its doors on October 1, 2024,
making it a brand-new attraction.
These days, even Pohang locals are asking,
"Have you been there yet?"
That's how popular it is.
The exterior of Hwanho Park Botanical Garden
is an arched glass greenhouse
shaped like a sunrise.
Stepping inside the glass dome,
you'll feel as though you've entered a forest
in the middle of the city.
For your information, Hwanho Park Botanical Garden
is closed every Monday.
Currently, during the winter season from November to February,
it's open from 9 AM to 5 PM.
Initially, I thought it would be small,
but once inside, it was quite spacious.
Overall, the garden features
continuous slopes,
making it accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.
It was pleasant to stroll slowly
and admire the plants.
The highlight of Hwanho Park Botanical Garden
is definitely the artificial waterfall.
It's a place where you can enjoy
viewing the waterfall from different angles
on each floor.
If you get close enough,
you can even touch the water.
"So, do I have to walk all the way to the 3rd floor again?"
As I mentioned, the botanical garden itself is designed
as a barrier-free path with slopes.
Inside Hwanho Park Botanical Garden,
there's an elevator.
Making it convenient for children, the elderly, and visitors with wheelchairs or strollers.
When you reach the fountain observation deck on the 3rd floor,
you can see the entire botanical garden at a glance.
It's hard to believe that this is a botanical garden
in the heart of the city, surrounded by apartments.
The scenery is peaceful and beautiful.
I came wearing a thick coat
because the weather was quite chilly.
But as I walked around,
beads of sweat formed on my forehead.
Hwanho Park Botanical Garden has
a state-of-the-art temperature and humidity control system,
maintaining a constant temperature
throughout all four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter.
On the 1st floor, you can look up at the waterfall.
On the 2nd floor, there's a skywalk
where you can see the waterfall at the same level.
And the 3rd floor is the waterfall observatory!
The waterfall truly looks different
depending on where you stand.
Hwanho Park Botanical Garden is
an indoor travel destination that can be enjoyed
regardless of the weather,
providing a great resting place
not only for Pohang citizens
but also for travelers from out of town.
How about taking a leisurely afternoon
outing to the botanical garden?
