The first antenna (27.4m in diameter) is designated as Registered Cultural Heritage No. 436.
KT SAT operates the Geumsan Satellite Center, which houses over 40 antennas, including:
- 14th Earth Station Antenna: Provides dedicated satellite network services to regions with insufficient communication infrastructure.
- 21st & 22nd Earth Station Antennas: Rotate 360 degrees, assisting in maintaining satellite positioning.
- 37th Earth Station Antenna: Receives data signals transmitted from aircraft.
- Mugunghwa 5, 5A, 6, 7, & 8 Satellites
These antennas act as gateways, exchanging information between Earth and space around the clock.
The Earth Station is also preparing for the era of low-Earth orbit satellites, conducting research in conjunction with 5G and 6G communication technologies. The era of smartphones communicating directly with space-based stations is coming!
