Unyang Fortress is a rectangular structure built on flat land, showcasing the administrative and defensive features of the Joseon Dynasty.
Size: The fortress has a circumference of about 1.5km, containing government buildings and wells.
Attractions: The southern gate, Yeonghwa-ru, is currently under renovation. Walking along the fortress path, you can feel the historical essence of old Unyang.
Yeonghwa-ru, the southern gate of Unyang Fortress, is built in a traditional Joseon style with a gabled roof, known for its stability and neatness.
Note: While the watchtower (망루) and gate tower (문루) may seem similar, the watchtower is for surveillance, while the gate tower serves as an entrance and defensive structure.
Photos capture residents walking along the curved path, with wildflowers adding a picturesque backdrop.
