The Yeongnam Alps Welcome Center, located at the foot of the Yeongnam Alps in Ulsan's Ulju County, is a multi-cultural space where visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including a movie theater and VR experiences, all set against a stunning natural backdrop.

This weekend, I visited the Yeongnam Alps Welcome Center with my child and would like to share our experiences of the themed exhibition and VR activities.

The Yeongnam Alps Welcome Center is situated at 103-8, Alpseoncheon 5-gil, Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan.

The center features indoor facilities such as the Mountain Culture Center, Thunder Man Experience Center, International Climbing Center, and Video Experience Center, allowing for various cultural experiences regardless of the weather or season.

For those driving, there is dedicated parking available, so please refer to the layout for details.

The Mountain Culture Center houses the Alpseon Cinema and a mountain-themed exhibition room.

There are two small movie theaters, with the first screening room located on the first floor of the Mountain Culture Center.

Opened in October 2015, this theater has 104 seats and offers newly released films at a low price of 7,000 won per ticket, making it a popular spot.

The second floor features the themed exhibition room, showcasing the seasonal natural environment and history of the Yeongnam Alps through media art and displays.

The Yeongnam Alps consist of nine mountains, including Gajisan, Sinbulsan, and others, all over 1,000 meters high, located at the border of Ulsan, Miryang, Yangsan, Cheongdo, and Gyeongju.

While I haven’t climbed all of them yet, I’ve heard that the breathtaking views attract many mountain enthusiasts.

If you want to experience the beauty of the Yeongnam Alps in every season, the themed exhibition room at the Welcome Center is the place to visit.

Here, you can encounter the beautiful silver grass of the Yeongnam Alps.

The theme "Cheonhwa Mandi" refers to breaking through the sky that was hidden by dense forests, using the dialect word "Mandi" for peak.

The peaceful landscape of the silver grass is truly healing just to look at!

Let’s learn about the nine mountains of the Yeongnam Alps!

You can find videos and photos showcasing the unique charms of each of the nine peaks.

One of the highlights is the seasonal display of the Yeongnam Alps on a large screen, showcasing the beauty of spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

The stunning scenery is complemented by vivid sound, enhancing the experience.

There are also seating areas for visitors to relax and enjoy the view.

The Yeongnam Alps Ecological Valley presents mammals and rare plants that inhabit the area.

Among the 39 mammal species, 10 are endangered, including the red bat and the alpine musk deer, which are designated as natural monuments.

Additionally, the azalea colony of Gajisan, designated as natural monument 462, and other rare plants also thrive here, highlighting the importance of ecological preservation.

Experience the Hongryu Waterfall, situated on the slopes of Sinbulsan, through an interactive art wall that showcases the waterfall's beauty across all four seasons.

The media art changes when you touch the wall, making it a fun experience.

Next, we visited the Video Experience Center, the VR space of the Welcome Center.

Operating hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a lunch break from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Here, you can experience a rescue simulation using a helicopter, enjoy VR rides like bobsledding and skiing, and take in the views of the Yeongnam Alps while paragliding.

Admission is free, but there is a fee of 3,000 won for each VR ride.

The interactive sketch wall allows children to color animal pictures and see them come to life on the screen, which is free!

My child colored a tiger, reminiscent of the one we saw in the Mountain Culture Center.

We could also watch the video of the Yeongnam Alps tiger's dream again.

In summary, we explored the exhibitions and experience spaces at the Ulsan Yeongnam Alps Welcome Center, which offers a variety of engaging activities, ensuring there’s never a dull moment.

If you're wondering where to go during the upcoming holiday, consider visiting the Yeongnam Alps Welcome Center!
