Last weekend, in celebration of UNESCO's designated World Arts Education Week, the 2026 Ulsan Cultural Arts Education Week event titled 'Perhaps I Am Also Art' took place.

This event aimed to share cultural arts education programs reflecting local characteristics and life cycles with citizens, enhancing the value of cultural arts education.

All booths featuring various artistic activities such as music, art, dance, and literature were operated free of charge, allowing many local residents to participate without any burden.

The event, held at the South Gate of Ulsan Grand Park, started with rain from the morning. However, since the booths were set up to be conducted indoors, the weather did not hinder the activities.

'Perhaps I Am Also Art' featured 33 selected participants as part of the Ulsan Cultural Arts Education Foundation project, showcasing a variety of cultural arts education programs divided into crafts, art, music, and media.

Many people attended to join the 'Perhaps I Am Also Art' event. Reservations were essential for the experience booths, allowing participants to see and choose the activities directly on-site.

The Taehwa-ro Arts Group hosted a booth where visitors could experience traditional military band instruments used by the Chwi-ta band, which means 'to blow' for wind instruments and 'to strike' for percussion instruments.

One unique instrument was a set of small gongs hung on a wooden frame, which piqued curiosity as it is not commonly encountered.

Despite being percussion instruments, they produced different tones, allowing participants to create melodies using sheet music from songs like 'School Bell' and 'Arirang.'

At the 'Art with Clay' booth by the Goodsera Cooperative, participants could create their own pottery. They experienced shaping the thickness and form of the pottery with their fingertips while turning the wheel alongside the instructor.

Completed works were packaged in gift boxes, serving as memorable keepsakes from the event.

These days, many are engaging in creator activities using social media. A sensory-based trend test booth titled 'What Type of Creator Are You?' provided insights into different creator types.

Participants could discover if they were a 'Meme Talker', 'Worldview Director', 'Trend Snapper', or 'Shorts Director', among eight types. My child was identified as a 'Neighborhood Snapshot' type, capturing a memorable photo with a personalized touch.

The Ulsan Opera Company offered experiences such as 'I Am an Opera Star' and a mask-making booth for musical makeup, showcasing the numerous artistic organizations in Ulsan.

Especially at Ulsan Cantante, participants learned about the life of Ulsan children's literature author Seo Deok-chul through singing children's songs, making the experience even more meaningful.

This event provided a platform not only for artistic activities but also for participating organizations to promote their work. Here are a few programs available for elementary school students:

Photos of activities displayed in front of the booths looked very exciting, and those interested should refer to the information above to apply.

The experience booths of 'Perhaps I Am Also Art' also extended toward SK Plaza, offering various experiences such as creating porcelain art goods, expressing through poetry, and making a character from the Jangsaengpo Hohoho Art Cruise using AI.

A key advantage of this event was its accessibility for people of all ages. It was significant to see and feel artistic activities that many had not tried before in one place.

At the booth run by Aura, participants completed missions from a spinning wheel, striking poses, dancing to exciting music, and taking on the Wacking Challenge!

While dancing can be intimidating, the lively atmosphere encouraged participants to engage actively.

A special event featured participatory public artist Cheon Geun-seong's 'Everything Art Truck,' where participants could select items and paint on a prepared canvas, completing a unique art market by exchanging items and artwork.

Although registration closed early due to popularity, participants could still enjoy the selected items' artworks.

Recently, the Ulsan Grand Park Rose Festival concluded successfully. At this event, attendees could also taste healthy desserts at the Ulsan Grand Park's rose-themed product booth.

The 'Yummy Ball' gift set, featuring rose, strawberry, and basil flavors, was made from ingredients grown locally, ensuring both taste and health benefits.

This wraps up my recap of the 2026 Ulsan Cultural Arts Education Week event 'Perhaps I Am Also Art.'

Previously, I thought that only those with talent could engage in the arts, but this event helped me get closer to cultural and artistic activities.

'Perhaps I Am Also Art' lowered the barriers to cultural arts education and elevated its value! If you missed this year, I hope you will participate next year.
