As summer vacation approaches, many of us want to escape somewhere, but long-distance trips can be daunting due to time and distance.

In such cases, exploring nearby destinations for a light and enjoyable trip can be a great option.

This time, I visited Gumi Dam, located by the Nakdong River in Seonsan-eup, Gumi City.

You can enjoy a leisurely walk while appreciating the expansive views of the Nakdong River, and the observation deck offers a panoramic view of the surrounding scenery, making it an ideal spot for a summer outing.

Near the Gumi Dam office, there is the 'POSCO Family Park.' This park was created by seven POSCO companies for the relaxation and leisure of Gumi citizens, featuring various themed gardens and sculptures.

After parking in front of the Gumi Dam office, I took a slow stroll around the park, which has 16 themed gardens, perfect for a pleasant walk.

Upon entering the park, the first thing that catches your eye is a unique sculpture resembling a blast furnace, vividly depicting molten iron flowing down, showcasing POSCO's identity.

You can also find fun sculptures that resemble sharks approaching from the water. The unique sculptures scattered throughout the park enhance the joy of exploring.

The charming themed gardens and lush greenery make the park a great place to take a break or enjoy a stroll.

As you pass through the park, the Gumi Dam comes into view in the distance. I walked towards the dam to experience the Nakdong River up close.

Walking along the Gumi Dam, you can admire the wide expanse of the Nakdong River and the surrounding green landscape.

Walking while gazing at the open river brings a sense of relaxation and coolness that is hard to find in the city.

You can also see birds resting on the wide river surface. The combination of the river, sky, and structures of Gumi Dam creates a unique landscape.

In the center of Gumi Dam, there is an observatory that offers a view of the Nakdong River area. The observatory is spacious and pleasantly designed, with comfortable seating by the windows for enjoying the scenery.

The ability to view the Nakdong River's landscape from indoors is also appealing.

Throughout the observatory, there are information boards about Gumi Dam and the surrounding area, allowing you to enjoy the scenery while learning more.

From the observatory, you can overlook the structures on both sides of Gumi Dam and the wide Nakdong River.

The landscape stretching along the Nakdong River is refreshing and rewarding to appreciate.

After enjoying the view of the Nakdong River and the surrounding natural scenery, I descended from the observatory.

You can often see cyclists riding across the Gumi Dam bridge. Gumi Dam connects to the Nakdong River bike path, making it an attractive spot for both walkers and cyclists.

Gumi Dam offers the chance to enjoy the expansive views of the Nakdong River, a cool breeze, and a pleasant walk all at once!

Climbing to the observatory and appreciating the 360-degree views, along with exploring the various themed gardens of POSCO Family Park, will make your outing even more fulfilling.

If you want to experience a different summer landscape without traveling far, consider visiting Gumi Dam.
