Emotional Photography Spot: Guseodo Station in Namwon

Guseodo Station
While planning a trip to Namwon, I stumbled upon Guseodo Station, which serves as a filming location. Initially, I thought it was just an abandoned station, but upon visiting, I found it to be much more—a unique space with a different atmosphere used for filming.
This place left quite an impression on me, especially since most people think of Gwanghanruwon and Chunhyang Theme Park when they think of Namwon. Guseodo Station offers a distinct charm that makes it worth visiting.
Admission and Parking at Guseodo Station
· Address: 32 Seodo-gil, Sammae-myeon, Namwon, Jeollabuk-do
· Operating Hours: Open year-round
· Parking: Dedicated parking available for visitors
· Admission Fee: Free
Guseodo Station is open 24/7, and you can use the dedicated parking area right at the entrance. Both parking and admission are free, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well-maintained the grounds are.
Originally, Guseodo was a small train station where actual trains used to run. Over time, train operations ceased, and it was abandoned. Instead of leaving it as is, the space was repurposed as a filming location.
Unlike typical abandoned stations, Guseodo has areas designed like film sets, maintaining an old-world charm while allowing for drama and movie shoots. Exhibits of actual works filmed here are also on display.
The facilities include the old station building, platform, and railway tracks, with the interior designed for filming purposes. It’s not a place with flashy exhibits or experience programs; rather, it’s about enjoying the space itself.
This makes it more suitable for taking photos or soaking in the atmosphere than for hands-on experiences. In spring, when the trees bloom with flowers and leaves, the background becomes even more vibrant. However, the tranquil winter ambiance provides its own unique charm.
In the middle of the railway, there’s a photo zone featuring a bicycle placed under a tall tree with lush green leaves. You can hop on the bike or sit on a chair nearby for a great photo opportunity.
Don’t miss the cherry blossom tree at the entrance, which is also a fantastic photo spot. Currently, the cherry blossoms are about 20% bloomed (in March). They are expected to be in full bloom this weekend or next week, so if you plan to visit then, be sure to capture some memorable shots.
To the left of the station, a unique backdrop awaits, with green trees on one side and cherry blossoms on the other. A beautifully arranged piece is displayed in the center, making it ideal for lovely photos.
The restroom also features a unique design, blending old-world charm with modern sensibilities.
What I personally enjoyed the most was the serene atmosphere. It’s completely different from crowded tourist spots, making it perfect for a leisurely visit. The soft afternoon light is particularly great for photography, and I was lucky to visit on a day with beautiful clouds.
If you visit Guseodo Station, I recommend checking out nearby attractions in Namwon. Gwanghanruwon is a representative tourist spot of Namwon, offering a traditional garden feel that contrasts with the atmosphere of Guseodo Station. A little further, you can also enjoy a nature walk along the Jirisan Trail.
