Discovering the Hidden Gem of Geumsunjeong in Yeongju

The sun is hot, but the exceptionally blue sky and fluffy clouds make me want to escape somewhere.
While enjoying the refreshing weather, I find myself searching for a hidden spot away from the bustling crowds.
In such moments, I would like to introduce you to the hidden gem of Yeongju, Geumsunjeong.
Geumsunjeong is nestled within a small countryside village.
The large pine trees and stone walls create a serene and warm atmosphere that is delightful to experience.
On the way down to Geumsunjeong, there is a pavilion called Geyangjeong, where a tall pine tree majestically guards the structure, capturing attention.
The harmony between the ancient pine tree and the blue sky is so beautiful that it keeps drawing my gaze.
Geumsunjeong is located in a spot that one might easily overlook.
It feels like a door to a secret garden, adding to the excitement.
The combination of the pavilion on the rocky cliff and the dense forest looks like a painting.
Geumsunjeong has stood under the shade of a 500-year-old pine forest.
It sits between bizarre rock formations and a clear valley, and what’s remarkable is that the pavilion was built without altering the shape of the surrounding rocks.
The unique feature of having pillars of different lengths while embracing nature is truly wonderful.
This pavilion, built in the late Joseon period, was established by Lee Han-il, the governor of Punggi during King Jeongjo's reign, along with his descendants to honor his mentor, the Confucian scholar Heo Namsan.
Thinking about the ancient scholars who sat here listening to the sound of clear water while enjoying literature and poetry makes it feel even more special.
Geumsun Valley, located downstream of the Sobaeksan Mountain, offers crystal clear waters and a tranquil atmosphere.
Dipping my feet into the transparent waters makes the heat disappear.
Being in such a quiet tourist spot, it felt like having the entire Geumsun Valley to myself, allowing me to relax.
For those who wish to enjoy the serenity of nature instead of crowded tourist attractions, this place will surely satisfy you.
I hope you enjoy a contemplative journey at Geumsunjeong in Yeongju!
