As the sweltering summer days gradually fade away, September ushers in the cooling breeze of autumn.
The crisp winds in the mornings and evenings remind us that fall is upon us.
Ulsan's Soldo area, which has offered vibrant and beautiful scenery since spring, is undergoing another transformation for autumn.
From September, the start of fall, we eagerly anticipate the picturesque landscapes.
One of the highlights is the Pampas grass and the beautiful reeds located on the hill of Seongkkut Village, which have become a must-visit autumn destination in Ulsan.
The official name of the hill where the reeds and Pampas grass flourish is Daewangam Park Flower Complex.
This spot is highly recommended as a place to visit in the fall.
Walking through the quaint alleys of Seongkkut Village, you will encounter clusters of reeds and Pampas grass as you ascend the hill.
The alleys are adorned with murals from long ago, adding a nostalgic charm.
As you stroll, you can admire the flowers and trees growing in each yard, ensuring there's never a dull moment! Even in September, the blooming trumpet vine greets visitors.
Upon reaching the hill, the Pampas grass cluster comes into view.
This area is quite expansive, and this year, the grass has grown taller and lusher than usual, surpassing the height of an average person.
Flanking the main road, the clusters stretch out, leading to the beautiful sea at the end, making it an ideal spot to enjoy stunning autumn scenery.
Typically, Pampas grass clusters are found in fields or parks, but Ulsan’s backdrop of the blue sea near Soldo and Daewangam makes it particularly impressive.
As you pass the Pampas grass clusters and ascend a bit further, you will find the charmingly round reeds waiting for you.
The reeds start as light green and gradually turn red in the fall, eventually becoming brown. As September progresses, they are slowly beginning to change color.
On September 11, the view of the reeds, Pampas grass, and the Soldo lighthouse in the distance is simply breathtaking.
This year's reeds are larger and more colorful than last year, and they are expected to become even more beautiful after mid-September.
During this year's Chuseok holiday, a visit to Ulsan’s Soldo, with its reeds and Pampas grass, along with Daewangam Park, promises to be a fulfilling trip.
Additionally, an outdoor library event titled "Falling for Ulsan’s Soldo" will take place on Saturdays and Sundays in the Soldo area, making for an even richer outing.
The scenic autumn landscapes, best enjoyed with the refreshing sea breeze, attract many visitors at sunset. It’s recommended to visit in the late afternoon to experience the full autumn ambiance.
Since the Pampas grass and reeds are located on the hill without any shade, it can get hot during the day. It’s advisable to bring a hat or an umbrella.
If you plan to visit during sunset, be prepared for strong winds by bringing a windbreaker or scarf.
For those driving, using the Soldo or Seongkkut Village parking lots is convenient.
If you're unsure of the Pampas grass cluster's location, entering the address into your navigation system will guide you. Parking in the area shown in the photos will help you find it easily.
Parking location: Ulsan, Bangheo-dong 37-2.
