Discover the Tranquility of Buseoksa Temple in Yeongju
The vacation season has officially arrived.
Many people will be traveling to valleys or the sea to escape the heat!
However, with the influx of tourists, some may feel overwhelmed by the crowds.
If you're looking for a quiet getaway away from the bustling crowds,
I recommend Buseoksa Temple in the small city of Yeongju.
Yeongju may not be glamorous, but it is full of serene charm,
making it a perfect destination for quiet reflection.
Tall trees naturally frame the view,
and beyond them, the majestic Buseoksa Temple unfolds.
Buseoksa was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018,
making it Korea's 13th World Heritage Site.
As I walked through the lush greenery of Buseoksa,
I was captivated by the clear sounds of birds and the tranquil scenery.
I even had the chance to participate in a traditional ritual for family happiness.
In the center of Buseoksa, you will encounter the grand bell tower,
known as Beomjonggak.
This architectural marvel has a unique charm with its different roof styles.
The front boasts a splendid hipped roof, while the back has a neat gable roof.
Buseoksa, a World Cultural Heritage site,
is filled with fascinating and intriguing features.
The view of the Sobaeksan mountain range beyond the pavilion
and the temple creates a leisurely and peaceful atmosphere.
It was a perfect moment to fully appreciate the charm of a small city.
Finally, I explored the symbol of Buseoksa and a national treasure,
the Muryangsujeon Hall.
As one of the oldest wooden structures in Korea,
it embodies the passage of time and its grand appearance is overwhelming.
After touring Muryangsujeon,
I climbed a bit higher for a panoramic view of the temple grounds.
The well-maintained garden and tiled roofs
created a beautifully harmonious and peaceful scene.
I also encountered the stone from which Buseoksa gets its name!
It is a fascinating sight of one rock balancing on another,
evoking the image of a stone floating in the air.
I enjoyed the beautiful wooden architecture and
the endless view of the Sobaeksan mountain range,
relishing a moment of tranquility.
