Summer is the season that pushes away spring.

During the day, it feels as though summer has already begun,

with the hot sunshine pouring down.

I heard there is a space filled with such passionate heat,

and I went to check it out.

It's the Gyeonggi Provincial Library's 'Book Workshop'.

The Book Workshop at Gyeonggi Provincial Library is a space where

any resident who wants to publish a book can experience

the entire creative process and book production.

From writing to editing, design, printing, and binding,

you can directly experience the entire process of making a book,

creating 'my one and only book in the world'.

Recently, the value of writing and reading has been gaining renewed attention.

In an era where anything is possible with just a smartphone or computer,

analog writing feels refreshingly new.

In the past, the boundaries between writers and readers were clear.

However, as we enter the age of artificial intelligence,

everyone can now write and share their own stories.

Every day, countless people post their writings on various platforms like Instagram, blogs, and Facebook.

Even though AI can write and create books,

people are still gathering to improve their writing skills

and create their own books.

Those who have used AI say,

"You need to write good prompts to get good results.

Ultimately, the ability to write well is important."

Upon entering the Book Workshop on the first basement floor of the library,

I noticed instructors and participants seriously engaged in their classes.

In a quiet yet warm atmosphere,

everyone was expressing their stories through writing and illustrations.

The Book Workshop operates as a participatory creative program

allowing residents to plan and produce their own books.

It provides a multifaceted creative space where

participants can experience the entire book production process.

Every Wednesday, the program 'Drawing Memories in Picture Books' is held.

On this day, the theme was 'Time of Dreams and Growth',

where participants read picture books and reflected on childhood memories.

As they shared their dreams and school experiences,

they expressed scenes symbolizing their dreams through patterns and illustrations.

The completed books will be shared with the community through exhibitions and discussions.

For those hesitant to join, the instructor encourages,

"Anyone can do it. Each person's story is valuable,

and we are here to help express it easily."

In the Book Workshop, the experience of expressing one's story holds greater significance than the final product.

What kind of book would you like to create?
