A Unique Experience Walking in the Sky: Pohang Hwanho Park Space Walk

Experience the extraordinary sensation of walking among the clouds at Pohang Hwanho Park's Space Walk.
Hello!
Today, I'd like to introduce a place in Pohang, Gyeongbuk, where you and your children can have a unique experience walking in the sky.
It's called Space Walk, located in Hwanho Park near Pohang Yeongilman Port.
Opened in November 2021, it quickly became a popular tourist destination in Pohang. Back then, it was so crowded, but I recently heard that it's now the perfect time to visit, so I went.
After parking in the free public parking lot, it was a pleasant 15-minute walk to the Space Walk.
Pohang Space Walk is open from 10 AM to 8 PM on weekdays and from 10 AM to 9 PM on weekends and holidays. It is closed every first Monday of the month.
Space Walk can accommodate 150 people at a time, and operations may be suspended due to climate changes such as strong winds or heavy rain.
There is no admission fee to experience Space Walk, where you can have a special experience walking in the sky with your children in Gyeongbuk Pohang.
On the way from the parking lot to Space Walk, you'll pass through Hwanho Park.
While Space Walk is great, Hwanho Park is also a fantastic park to spend time with children.
Hwanho Park has a large plaza right in front.
Many families were enjoying themselves, with children riding bicycles and scooters.
Some families were picnicking on the grass near the plaza, enjoying the cool autumn weather and a relaxing weekend.
We walked from the parking lot, through Hwanho Park, and up to Space Walk.
The walk wasn't short, but with sculptures and a well-maintained autumn path, it wasn't boring at all.
Arriving at Space Walk, there's a photo zone, and you can see the Pohang sea at a glance.
Space Walk is not accessible for children under 110cm.
It's a suitable experience for kindergarteners around 6 years old and up.
Even if younger children can't walk in the sky themselves, they can still see the uniquely shaped Space Walk and take pictures, making it a great place for a light stroll.
"Enchanted by the magic of time and space."
The meaning of Space Walk, which evokes the feeling of floating in space or walking through it after leaving a spaceship, becomes clear in this sight.
I had seen it in pictures many times, but seeing it in person, I was amazed by its scale.
Pohang Space Walk is a work planned, produced, and installed by POSCO. The main materials are carbon steel and stainless steel produced by POSCO.
It is also designed by the world-renowned German artists Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth.
You can walk on the thrilling Space Walk with your children for free.
Space Walk consists of a total of 717 steps, and except for some sections that are closed, you can freely use Space Walk to walk in the sky.
Also, to prevent tourists from being endangered by falling objects, tripods and drinks are not allowed.
I also went up to the sky of Pohang with my child.
Even though it was sunny and not windy that day, I could feel quite a bit of vibration as I went up.
When I looked up from below, I thought it was just walking on stairs, but going up there myself, it was much more thrilling than I expected.
Still, there were safety bars and the stairs were sturdy, so I could enjoy it with my 6-year-old child by walking slowly.
Also, when I went up, I could see the Pohang Steel Works and the Pohang Sea at a glance, which was breathtaking.
My 6-year-old got scared after a certain point, so we came down in the middle, but older elementary school students were enjoying the thrill and going all the way to the end of the course.
Space Walk was a special experience where I could walk in the sky with my child in Pohang.
When my child gets a little older, I plan to visit again with the goal of completing the course.
