A Relaxing Visit to Seonam Bathhouse in Ulsan

Hello, I am Jeong Jae-in from the Ulsan City Hall Blog Reporter Group.
These days, juggling childcare and household chores has made me often think, "Ah... I really want to unwind in warm water."
So, I decided to visit Seonam Bathhouse in Seonam-dong, Ulsan.
Here’s a summary of the basic operating information:
- Operating Hours: 6 AM - 8 PM
- Regular Closed Days: Every Monday and Wednesday
- Legal Holidays: January 1st, Lunar New Year, and Chuseok
- Fee: 6,000 KRW per person (Cash and card payments accepted)
- Disabled Access: Bathhouse available once a week on Mondays from 10 AM to 5 PM
As a public bathhouse, the prices are definitely affordable.
Weekend Visit Review
I visited around 10 AM on the weekend, and there were no available spots. There were about 24 seated shower areas, all fully occupied, so I ended up showering in the standing booths. If I had arrived just a bit later, there would have been no spots there either. Later arrivals were washing themselves sitting next to the tubs.
The conclusion is to definitely go early in the morning on weekends. I've heard that weekdays are much less crowded.
Facilities & Water Temperature
- Two hot tubs: approximately 40°C and 41°C
- One cold tub
- Sauna available
The water is sourced from underground and feels wonderfully warm, especially in winter. "There's nothing like a bathhouse in winter..." Bathhouses are the best.
Towels & Essentials
- Two towels provided for free
- Don’t forget to bring a tumbler!
Interestingly, there is an ice machine where you can freely scoop ice to add to your drink, which made me regret not bringing a water bottle. Next time, I think I’ll bring coffee.
No coffee or bath products sold
Make sure to bring your own shampoo, body wash, and personal items!
Regarding Body Scrubs
Body scrubs were available, and while I couldn't see the exact price due to poor visibility, I think it was around 10,000 KRW for a back scrub. I plan to come back for a scrub next time.
Is it good to get scrubbed often? Generally, it’s recommended to do it about once a month for skin protection. Scrubbing too frequently can damage the skin barrier and cause itching.
Other Important Points
- Hairdryer: requires coins, so bring some!
- I was initially concerned about cleanliness since it’s not publicly operated, but there was a cleaning staff on duty.
- The majority of visitors were seniors, but there were also some younger people.
- The size is just right, not too small or too large, giving a neighborhood bathhouse vibe.
Parking is free for 2 hours!
This is generally enough time to take a bath and dry off afterward. However, on weekends, due to high visitor numbers, both parking and seating can fill up quickly, so early visits are recommended.
There is a blood pressure monitor inside, allowing visitors to check their blood pressure before and after bathing, which is understandable given the high number of elderly visitors. It’s comforting to check your blood pressure before and after using the hot tubs.
After 10 visits, you get one free service, which is mainly utilized by regular local residents. The prices are already low, and with this reward system, it feels like a true neighborhood bathhouse.
Overall Review
- Affordable prices
- Good quality water and warmth
- Especially satisfying in winter
- Perfect for when you want to relax or unwind
Next time, I plan to:
- Visit early in the morning
- Bring a tumbler and coins
- Get a body scrub once a month
If you’re looking for a cost-effective bathhouse in Ulsan, I highly recommend Seonam Bathhouse!
