A 40s Flight Attendant's Diet Diary: Hong Kong Edition

Hello! This is Jin Sister, your 40-something flight attendant and lifestyle health influencer. After a long-haul flight from New York, I’ve landed in beautiful Hong Kong just in time for the Mid-Autumn Festival. The weather here has been perfect lately—clear skies and temperatures around 29-31°C—making it the ultimate season for hiking and moon gazing.
My "maintenance diet" philosophy is simple: balance regular food with intermittent exercise and a lot of movement. From air-fryer vegetarian dumplings to the breathtaking views at Lantau Island's Lo Fu Tau, this diary entry covers my efforts to stay fit while enjoying the festive spirit of Hong Kong. Join me as I share my holiday highlights before heading off on my annual business-class trip to France!
Mid-Autumn Magic: Moon Gazing and TamJai
The Mid-Autumn Festival in Hong Kong is truly special. This year, the full moon was absolutely incredible, and I managed to capture it using my Galaxy S21 Ultra. For dinner, a friend and I headed to TamJai—a local favorite for rice noodles. Although I was technically on a diet, we couldn't resist a few celebratory beers. The restaurant even gave us cute Mid-Autumn gifts to commemorate the holiday!
Hiking Lo Fu Tau: Tiger Head Views
To make up for the "diet fail" the night before, I hit the trails. Lo Fu Tau (Tiger Head) on Lantau Island is one of my favorite spots. The ascent from Discovery Bay is steep, but the 360-degree panoramic views of the airport and the sea are worth every drop of sweat. For a 40-year-old, dieting isn't about starving; it's about moving a little more and enjoying the fresh air. After a solid hour-and-a-half hike, I felt completely recharged.
Maintaining the Routine: Tofu Noodles and Tofu Bibim
When I'm not eating out, I keep my meals simple and nutrient-dense. My current favorites include stir-fried vegetables with tofu noodles and air-fried vegetarian dumplings. Post-hike, I treated myself to bibim-momo (spicy buckwheat noodles) topped with grilled tofu. It's the perfect way to feel lighter and satisfied without the guilt.
Next Stop: Business Class to France
Life as a flight attendant is always "out of it," and I barely had time to pack before my next flight. I managed to score a business class seat for my annual trip to France! I'm looking forward to shifting my diet diary focus to French home-style cooking and fresh European ingredients. Even while traveling, I’ll be finding small ways to stay active every day.
Would you like me to find the best-rated hiking trails in the South of France for your upcoming trip, or should I look up the traditional French home-style recipes for your next diet diary entry?
