The Ultimate Seafood Experience at Jeju's Mipo House

After a long time, I finally had the chance to visit Jeju Island.
Since it had been so long, I wanted to indulge in some seafood and was determined to find a restaurant that wouldn’t disappoint.
After searching around, I discovered the visually stunning Jeju-style pot rice at Mipo House and decided to visit!
The anticipation was palpable.
Mipo House, located in Aewol, Jeju, is a modern establishment with a beautiful view of the ocean. The sound of crashing waves filled the air, creating a serene atmosphere.
As I stepped inside, the sound of my footsteps on the tiled floor and the gentle rustling of leaves in the breeze added to the charm.
Upon entering, I was greeted by a breathtaking view of the ocean through the large glass windows, complemented by soft classical music and the sight of white foamy waves.
After placing my order, there was a delightful clattering as the dishes, including the Jeju pot rice, landed on the table, filling the air with the enticing aroma of a special sweet and spicy sauce.
The broccoli salad was crunchy and fragrant with sesame oil, while the crispy sweet and sour pork released juicy mushroom flavors that even I, who usually dislike mushrooms, found delicious.
When I lifted the lid of the pot rice, a cloud of steam and a nutty aroma wafted out. The sound of scooping rice and pouring hot water created a rhythmic ambiance.
Everything was incredibly fresh, and I could see the quality just by looking at it.
Breaking the yolk and mixing it in released a subtle sesame fragrance that enveloped the dish, enhancing its flavor significantly.
The abalone had a chewy texture that was addictive, while the octopus legs were moist and perfectly tender.
Peeling the shrimp revealed a delightful bounce in the flesh, and the texture was satisfying with every bite.
The smoky aroma of the salmon was captivating, and its delicate texture melted in my mouth.
The smooth surface of the scallops glided effortlessly across my palate, leaving a lingering sweetness.
The crunchy texture of the whelk complemented the pot rice beautifully, making each bite engaging.
When I squeezed the crab, the sweet meat tumbled out, mingling perfectly with the rich soy sauce, creating an umami explosion.
The sound of scraping the hard shell was satisfying, and the rich aroma of the crab meat blended with the warm rice, creating a delightful mix.
The simplicity of the seaweed brought out the flavors even more, and I appreciated the synergy it created.
The pot rice, steaming with abalone, carried the scent of seaweed, while the crispy rice at the bottom added a lovely burnt aroma.
As I took a big spoonful, the popping sound of the seaweed and the chewiness of the abalone came together, and the rich flavors of the innards filled the air, leaving me in awe.
The clear and savory broth at the end washed away any lingering flavors, making for a perfect conclusion to the meal.
This Jeju pot rice restaurant fulfilled all my expectations in terms of sound, smell, and texture. After a long-awaited trip to Jeju, I left feeling satisfied and full of seafood goodness!
