This post is a review written with the support of a manuscript fee.

During a recent trip to Jeju Island with my family, we visited a popular breakfast spot near Jeju Airport as our first meal upon arrival.

We enjoyed a warm Korean stew and noodle dishes that were both satisfying and delicious. I want to share this place known for its great value.

Address: 12 Seosaro, Jeju City, Jeju, South Korea

Operating Hours: Daily 08:00 - 15:30 (Last order at 15:00)

1. Location and Appearance of Topdong Haejangguk

The place we visited was just a 5-10 minute drive from Jeju Airport, making it convenient to fill our hungry stomachs right after our flight.

The large sign on the first floor was noticeable from afar.

Upon entering, we checked the origin labels on the wall, confirming that all ingredients used that day were either domestic or sourced from Jeju.

We ordered the recommended dishes: fernbrake stew, pork bone soup, meat noodles, and bibim noodles.

After a while, our table was filled with appetizing dishes, served quickly in hot stone pots.

The basic side dish was a tangy pickled onion that was crunchy and fresh, perfectly seasoned.

2. Savory Fernbrake Stew

The dish I was most curious about was the fernbrake stew. It was rich and flavorful, with generous amounts of fernbrake blended in.

Unlike other stews, it had a thick consistency that was not burdensome on an empty stomach, and its umami flavor was delightful.

Adding some kimchi on top made it even better, enhancing the smooth texture with a spicy kick.

3. Clear Pork Bone Soup

Next, we tried the pork bone soup, which was bubbling hot in the stone pot. The bones were thick, and the meat was tender.

The mild broth was perfect for an empty stomach, making it suitable for everyone from children to adults.

4. Meat Noodles and Bibim Noodles

The meat noodles were also popular and delicious, with chewy noodles topped with generous portions of meat.

We enjoyed Jeju black pork, and the broth was just to our taste.

We savored a bite with noodles, meat, and kimchi, feeling pleasantly full with a lingering umami flavor.

We also had the spicy bibim noodles, which were flavorful and well-seasoned, complementing the meat perfectly.

The noodles were freshly cooked, and the crunchy texture of the cabbage paired well with the spicy noodles.

5. Dombae Meat and Black Pork Jeongol

We decided to add Dombae meat as a side dish. The quality was excellent, with a good balance of fat and lean meat.

When paired with the provided sauce, it was exceptionally tender and juicy.

The black pork jeongol was wrapped in a thin egg pancake, offering a delightful taste.

Even with the pickled onions, it was a great combination, and the portion was generous, making it a satisfying meal.

After finishing our meal, we received some omek rice cake as a dessert, which was chewy and delicious, rounding off our breakfast perfectly. This spot is ideal for a hearty meal anytime during your travels.
