Delicious Traditional Chicken at Jangteo Old Chicken in Wonju

In the Musil-dong area of Wonju, there's a must-visit restaurant called Jangteo Old Chicken.
My friend, a chicken enthusiast, has been going to this local gem exclusively for some time now.
This place is located in the Dangu-dong area.
Recently, I decided to leave a review after my visit.
Don't underestimate it just because it's a chicken restaurant; it offers truly unique flavors that you won't regret trying!
The exterior catches your eye with the phrase 'Bring home Dad's chicken.' You can enjoy nostalgic flavors for just 9,900 won per chicken.
The restaurant's sign is quite charming, and the prices are very reasonable for a local eatery.
Next to the entrance, you can see a stone BBQ grill in action, making it a perfect spot for a late-night chicken and beer session, as they operate until midnight.
The spacious interior is equipped with various seating options, including tables for four, six, and eight, making it ideal for group visits.
The hall is really wide, making it comfortable even for larger groups, with ample space between tables.
There are also sofa seats available, allowing you to choose your preferred spot. The owner was very friendly, and the pleasant service added to the good atmosphere.
The menu is well-organized, with easy-to-read sections for individual items, sets, and sides, offering a wide selection, including fried foods and stone BBQ.
Since it was my first visit, we ordered a variety of dishes, and just looking at the menu raised my excitement level.
There were mouth-watering photos on the walls, showcasing dishes like BBQ with scallions and spicy chicken feet, making my mouth water.
As a warm-up, we started with a cabbage salad topped with a generous amount of peanuts, which was incredibly savory.
The combination of ketchup and mayonnaise is unbeatable.
The crunchy cabbage is perfect for cleansing your palate after enjoying the meat.
We ordered set number three and added some other items. The fried chicken gizzards, served with fried garlic, are not something you find easily.
The crispy batter was delightful, while the inside was chewy yet tender.
A refreshing draft beer washed down the food perfectly, relieving stress with its smooth finish.
Even the fried chicken batter was heavenly; it was crispy yet not greasy, making me reach for more.
Overall, Jangteo Old Chicken exceeded my expectations. The marinated chicken with scallions was also delicious, and the unique stone grilling method set it apart.
The tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) had a rich broth, topped with boiled eggs and scallions, making it visually appealing and satisfying.
With a steady stream of takeout customers, it's clear why this place is popular. I plan to visit with my family next time.
Now I understand why my friend keeps coming back to this local gem!
