Delicious Black Pig Restaurant in Jeju: Affordable Dining Experience

When traveling, dining out can often be a significant expense. This is especially true for black pig dishes, which tend to be pricier. However, I recently visited a black pig restaurant in Jeju's Jungmun area where the meat is offered at half price, making it much more affordable.
The restaurant is called Salt House, located at 86 Jungmun-ro, Seogwipo, Jeju. They operate daily from 11:30 AM to 11:30 PM, with the last order taken at 10:30 PM.
During my visit, they were running a special promotion for their third anniversary, offering a 50% discount on all meat dishes. The restaurant's proximity to the scenic Colorful Beach made it a perfect spot for a meal after enjoying the ocean view.
Parking is spacious in front of the restaurant, accommodating over 70 vehicles, which is convenient for those unfamiliar with driving in Jeju.
Upon entering, I was welcomed by a large dining area, which also featured private rooms for families or groups. The restaurant can comfortably seat over 100 guests, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
True to its reputation as a black pig specialty restaurant, Salt House had a meat aging room visible to customers. They only serve the top 1% of Jeju black pigs, ensuring high-quality meat.
While exploring the restaurant, I noticed a self-serve bar where various sauces, vegetables, and side dishes were neatly arranged, allowing guests to enjoy as much as they wanted.
High chairs are available for families with young children, showing the restaurant's thoughtful preparation for all guests.
The menu featured thick cuts of black pig, and I was particularly drawn to the pork belly and neck meat options. The limited availability of special cuts made me hesitate, but with the half-price offer, I couldn't resist trying them.
The thick black pig is grilled over barley straw flames, which is where the restaurant's uniqueness begins. Instead of being served directly, the meat undergoes a pre-cooking process over the straw fire.
Thick cuts of meat are placed on the grill, sizzling over high heat, which helps retain the juices, explaining the restaurant's excellent reputation.
Once the pre-cooking is complete, the meat is brought to the table for further grilling. Since the meat has already been partially cooked, it only needs to be cut into bite-sized pieces for final grilling.
The grill uses aromatic charcoal made from coffee wood, which subtly enhances the flavor while eliminating any unpleasant odors from the meat.
Grilling the side dish of aged kimchi along with the meat adds to the flavor, as the meat's fat mixes with the kimchi.
Before finishing the first plate of meat, all the side dishes and additional special cuts arrived, filling the table.
The quality of the meat was exceptional, especially the gabrisal, which is served fresh without pre-cooking. The neck meat had a delightful texture due to its marbled fat, making it a standout choice.
As for side dishes, they were beautifully arranged on a tray, featuring everything that pairs well with the meat, allowing everyone to enjoy their preferred flavors.
The black pig meat was juicy and flavorful, bursting with juices upon biting. The low-temperature aging process ensured that the meat was tender and rich in flavor.
Trying it with Jeju's famous meljeot sauce revealed a taste that I thoroughly enjoyed. Dipping it in wasabi also provided a unique flavor experience, showcasing the variety of side dishes available.
To complement the meal, I ordered the black pig kimchi stew, which came in a generous portion, served with rice. The stew was rich in flavor, with plenty of pork and kimchi, making it a perfect accompaniment to the meal.
The zucchini cheongukjang had a mild aroma, and the whole zucchini in the pot caught my eye. The sweet zucchini combined with the cheongukjang broth provided a comforting taste.
Lastly, I ordered the refreshing yeolmu noodles, which were generously portioned and topped with various ingredients, reflecting the owner's commitment to quality.
Before the half-price promotion ends, I highly recommend experiencing this black pig restaurant in Jeju's Jungmun area.
