Recommended Famous Bakery in Chuncheon
Today, I would like to introduce a must-visit bakery in Chuncheon.
It’s Daewondang, located in Seoksadong, Chuncheon!
This bakery has been in operation since 1968, making it the oldest bakery in Chuncheon.
Known for its soft and not overly rich buttercream bread, fresh cream-filled cream puffs, and the famous mammoth bread filled with cream and strawberry jam.
Daewondang has consistently been loved by the locals and has become a representative spot for bakery tours in Chuncheon.
Let’s dive right into the details!
Business Hours: 08:00 – 22:00
Last order: 21:00
I visited Daewondang to satisfy my craving for their famous cream puffs.
The bakery is located next to the Hosann Women's Clinic in Seoksadong, Chuncheon, and it is so famous that almost everyone in Chuncheon knows about it.
When I arrived, the atmosphere was already filled with a Christmas vibe!
The interior has become much more elegant after the expansion, with a spacious layout and neat displays.
Even on a weekday, the bakery was bustling with customers.
Now, let’s take a look at the star of the show: the bread!
One of the signature items is the Daewondang Mammoth bread, which many people make sure to grab.
It contains a delicious combination of buttery crumb topping, cocoa powder, sweet strawberry jam, and smooth buttercream.
I also love the cream puffs, which are filled with soft and not overly sweet fresh cream.
You must grab a few of these!
Another classic is the sweet red bean bread, which is a staple item and very popular.
Next is the buttercream bread, which is so popular that some customers come just for this item.
The soft buttercream combined with the crunchy walnut topping is truly a match made in heaven.
Additionally, they are known for their potato bread and chewy rice cakes, which are also consistently popular.
Did you know that Daewondang is also famous for its hamburgers? It brings back nostalgic flavors!
I noticed many people still enjoy this item.
I also picked up a salt bread and an ink squid salt bread for my little one, who loves salt bread.
There are also cakes, salads, and sandwiches available, so keep that in mind!
There are so many delicious-looking breads that I can’t describe them all!
If you go late, you might miss out on some items!
In the end, I bought cream puffs, an an butter, salt bread, and morning bread.
I came for the cream puffs but ended up picking up a variety of treats!
After completing my purchase, I headed home to enjoy my delicious finds.
As expected from the oldest bakery in Chuncheon, Daewondang's bread was delightful.
I highly recommend it as a must-visit spot for anyone touring the bakeries in Chuncheon!
