Hello neighbors! Today, I visited a unique lunch spot in Gwangju's Sangmu District that immerses you in local vibes the moment you step inside.
The vibrant visuals and the deep exotic flavors that fill your mouth kept me smiling throughout the meal.

The menu features a 4-person set for 78,900 KRW, stir-fried beef with vegetables for 11,400 KRW, Hanoi-style gum soup for 14,500 KRW, special Hanoi bun cha for 24,000 KRW, spicy beef pho for 15,400 KRW, and double Hanoi banh mi for 9,400 KRW.
1. Menu Highlights
The table was filled with an impressive Vietnamese feast that took my breath away. From warm pho to crispy banh xeo and thick banh mi sandwiches, the presentation was a feast for the eyes.
Debkua stands out with its exotic exterior, reminiscent of a Vietnamese night market, making it easy to spot from afar.
The terrace features charming red and blue plastic chairs and bamboo structures, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Passing through the entrance greeted by a cute Dolhareubang, I felt as though I was embarking on a journey.
Inside, the unique sauce bottle decor caught my eye, complemented by soft bamboo lighting and a cozy table arrangement that created a stylish yet comfortable ambiance.
The walls are adorned with red bricks and bamboo, showcasing beautiful frames depicting scenes from Hanoi, reflecting the owner's meticulous attention to detail.
2. Banh Xeo
One of the main dishes, banh xeo, arrived on a large bamboo platter, showcasing its vibrant colors. The large, golden crepe was filled with fresh vegetables and shrimp, making it visually appealing.
As I dug into the crispy crepe, I found it packed with plump shrimp, meat, and bean sprouts, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients.
3. Spicy Beef Pho
The spicy pho, garnished with beautiful flower-shaped toppings, was a feast for the senses. The tender beef and chopped green onions added a rich flavor to the broth.
4. Bun Cha
The bun cha, featuring white rice noodles, crispy fried items, and grilled marinated meat, was beautifully plated, inviting me to explore various combinations.
5. Shrimp Pad Thai
The pad thai, adorned with peanut powder and fresh chives, was a colorful dish. A squeeze of lemon juice added a sweet and savory aroma that filled the table.
This visit to Debkua in Gwangju's Sangmu District was a delightful journey into the depths of Vietnamese culinary charm. I highly recommend visiting for a special meal filled with vibrant visuals and authentic flavors.
