Haeboban has a striking traditional tiled roof that catches your eye from afar, giving it the feel of a restaurant specializing in traditional Korean meals. The large sign makes it easy to locate, and there's ample parking space, making it convenient for family visits.
Inside, you can enjoy a refreshing view of the sea through large windows. The interior is simple, featuring clean wooden tables and comfortable chairs, allowing the beautiful ocean scenery to take center stage.

2. A Neatly Presented Seafood Platter
A point that would appeal to my parents' generation is the formal style of the meal presentation. While the main dish is served separately, it feels like a full course meal with various side dishes, creating the ambiance of a traditional Korean meal.
The seafood platter we ordered, which includes various seafood for 59,000 won, felt like a great value. It featured flounder, sweet shrimp, abalone, conch, sea squirt, and octopus, allowing us to enjoy multiple flavors without the pressure of ordering each item separately.
The flounder was fresh and had a delightful texture, while the sweet shrimp offered a distinct sweetness that pairs well with rice. The abalone was tender and flavorful, and the conch had a nice chewiness, making it enjoyable to eat.
The steamed egg custard, served fluffy in a stone pot, provided a comforting balance amid the more robust flavors, making it a dish that both elders and children could enjoy.
3. Fresh Mackerel Sashimi Without the Fishy Taste
Since my dad enjoys mackerel sashimi, we decided to order it. One of the biggest concerns with mackerel is the fishy smell, but Haeboban’s mackerel sashimi was surprisingly fresh without any unpleasant odors.
The rich, oily flavor of the mackerel was present, but without any off-putting taste, making it hard to believe it was mackerel at all.
4. The Main Stone Pot Rice Dish
The highlight of our visit was the stone pot rice dish. The main attraction, stir-fried black pork, was combined with onions, green onions, and peppers. The seasoning was not overly sweet and had a nice balance of spicy and savory flavors, enhancing the natural richness of the pork.
The fried fish was crispy on the outside and tender inside, adding to the overall enjoyment of the meal.
5. Overall Impressions of Haeboban
When traveling with parents, a restaurant that offers a well-prepared meal at a reasonable price often leads to a higher satisfaction than an expensive option. In this regard, I can confidently recommend Haeboban as a great value restaurant in Aewol, Jeju.
