A few days ago, I traveled to Jeju Island with my friends. We heard about a place famous for mackerel sashimi just a short distance from our accommodation, so we decided to visit. Here’s my review of Tamna Seafood in Seogwipo!

Located right at the entrance of the Olle Market's Exit 2, Tamna Seafood is easy to find, especially since it’s across from Lotteria.

The restaurant operates daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. As soon as we arrived, the menu caught my eye with its impressive variety. From the signature mackerel sashimi to red snapper, yellowtail, and flatfish, there were many options to choose from.

We decided to dine in instead of taking our food to go, and the setup was quick. The sashimi was abundantly served, and I was amazed at how generous the portions were.

We ordered a platter of mackerel and flatfish sashimi, and the quantity was surprisingly large. The presentation was visually appealing, and the freshness was evident. I took my first bite of the flatfish, my favorite fish, and it did not disappoint. It was cut thickly, enhancing the texture.

One of the best aspects of this place was the ability to enjoy a variety of sashimi at once. You can choose one type of fish, but I appreciated being able to mix and match according to my taste.

Thanks to the variety, I never got bored while eating. I tried mackerel sashimi for the first time, which is well-known as a must-try dish in Jeju. It was deliciously rich and nutty.

Next, I sampled the sweet shrimp sashimi. Initially, I only intended to order fish sashimi, but the price for the sweet shrimp was so reasonable that I couldn't resist. The shrimp were plump and well-prepared, making them easy to eat.

The natural sweetness of the shrimp was delightful, and dipping them in the spicy sauce added a perfect kick. The texture was enjoyable, making it hard to stop eating.

As we continued, the next platter arrived, beautifully presented and abundant, which added to the overall experience. They even provided oranges as a refreshing side.

One delightful surprise was the hairtail sashimi, which came as a bonus with our sashimi platter. It exceeded my expectations with its light and nutty flavor, and the texture was incredibly appealing.

It was so good that I considered ordering it as a main dish next time. It paired well with the dipping sauces, and I would love to indulge in hairtail sashimi again during my next visit.

They also provided a variety of side dishes, including fresh lettuce and kimchi. Placing a thick slice of hairtail sashimi on fresh lettuce with kimchi was a perfect match.

The sashimi was cut thick, allowing the texture to shine. The balance was perfect; not too thin nor too thick, making it enjoyable to eat.

The dipping sauces and side dishes were diverse, allowing for a fun combination of flavors. The spicy sauce was tangy and sweet, pairing well with everything.

What impressed me the most was that there was no fishy smell at all. The tanks were well-maintained, and all the seafood was fresh, ensuring a high-quality experience.

Each type of fish had its unique texture and flavor, making it enjoyable to alternate between them. Eating a variety of sashimi kept things exciting and satisfying.

The crunchy kimchi dipped in the spicy sauce was a flavor explosion, and wrapping the sashimi in lettuce with a bit of sauce and garlic was divine. I couldn't put my chopsticks down!

Even though I felt like I was eating like a food fighter, the portions were so generous that I didn’t make a dent in them.

After enjoying our sashimi, the owner prepared a spicy soup for us, which was rich and flavorful. We finished off our meal by mixing in rice, and I left feeling extremely satisfied.

This place exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it to everyone visiting Jeju!
