A Refreshing Experience at Sokcho Fish Market in Sanbon

As the weather gets warmer, I've been craving refreshing and tangy dishes. On this day, I wanted both sashimi and mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), so I visited Sokcho Fish Market in Sanbon, a place where you can enjoy both.
Although it had just opened, it seemed to have a steady stream of customers, which piqued my interest.
Upon entering, I felt the unique atmosphere of a sashimi restaurant, making it a suitable spot for family meals or casual drinks.
On the day of my visit, there was a gathering happening on one side, which made the atmosphere a bit lively.
Sokcho Fish Market is known for offering both mulhoe and sashimi, which is a great combination.
If you find the side dishes lacking, there's a self-service corner to help yourself.
Ordering is done directly at the table.
For my order, I chose mulhoe (with extra noodles) and a flatfish sashimi set!
It felt a bit lacking to only have sashimi, and I thought having just mulhoe wouldn't be enough, so I ordered both. I added noodles to my mulhoe.
The mulhoe that arrived first was visually appealing and made my mouth water just by looking at it. The addition of noodles was a nice touch, as they were mixed in with the mulhoe.
The tangy and cooling broth, combined with the fish and vegetables, made it a perfect dish for a hot day. The unique chill of mulhoe felt refreshing and cleaned my palate!
After enjoying some sashimi, having the noodles in the broth added a different flavor, which was delightful. The portion of mulhoe was quite generous.
Next came the flatfish sashimi set, which was the main highlight of the day. There's something special about eating sashimi that has just been sliced right in front of you.
The flatfish had a clean and chewy texture, and it was delicious dipped in spicy sauce or just a bit of wasabi soy sauce.
Personally, when I want to enjoy the pure flavor of sashimi, I prefer to dip it lightly in wasabi soy sauce, and the flatfish's subtle taste and chewy texture were well highlighted this way.
The refreshing and tangy mulhoe paired with the clean and chewy flatfish sashimi made for a delightful combination that kept me engaged without getting bored.
If you're looking to enjoy both mulhoe and sashimi, Sokcho Fish Market is a great choice. Especially in summer, when you're craving something cool but don't want to give up sashimi, ordering both mulhoe and the flatfish sashimi set is a fantastic option.
This place is also a good fit for family outings or casual gatherings over drinks in Sanbon. The fun of alternating between a bite of mulhoe and a piece of sashimi was particularly enjoyable.
If you're in Sanbon and want to enjoy refreshing mulhoe and chewy flatfish sashimi, Sokcho Fish Market is worth a visit.
