A Family Summer Trip to Busan: Discovering the Delicious King Crab

This summer, our family chose Busan as our vacation destination!
As fans of king crab, we visited the King Crab Alley in Gijang Market.
The main store of King Crab House, located in Gijang Market, offers high yield and fresh king crab at reasonable prices. From the generous basic side dishes to the satisfying crab roe fried rice, it’s a place I would recommend for family dining or dates.
We were impressed by the transparency of the process, as we could see the fresh king crabs being steamed right from the tank. The crabs were so meaty that we forgot about the cost!
There was plenty of food for our family of four. Curious about the price and yield? Let me share the details!
Location of King Crab House
Address: 5, Eumnae-ro 104beon-gil, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan
Operating Hours: 09:00 AM - 09:00 PM
Last Order: 08:00 PM
It was easy to find, located right in the heart of King Crab Alley. As we entered the alley, we noticed some vendors calling out to customers, but this place didn’t engage in such tactics.
Parking Information
Using the public parking lot at Gijang Market or nearby private parking is convenient. After dining, you can get a parking voucher from the restaurant to avoid parking fees.
Exterior Overview
The entrance features large aquariums filled with lively king crabs and king crabs, which immediately caught our attention. The steam rising from the large steamer increased our anticipation. We saw people haggling at the entrance while we waited to place our order.
The prices for king crab and king crab are marked as market price. The side dish cost is 5,000 won per person. The king crab ramen is 10,000 won, but it was offered for free during our review, so keep that in mind if you're interested.
My husband was busy haggling with the owner while I was captivated by the king crabs with my daughters. It wouldn’t feel right to miss out on the haggling experience at the market! After some negotiation, they managed to get three crabs for 250,000 won and received a lobster as a bonus.
Once we confirmed our crabs were in the steamer, we entered the restaurant.
Interior Overview
The interior was more spacious than I expected, and it was well-maintained, which put my mind at ease.
There were large tables suitable for group gatherings or family visits. They also had private spaces, which would be great for meetings. We considered eating quietly inside, but they mentioned it was already reserved. Here’s a tip: If you make a reservation through Naver, you can receive a lobster discount coupon, so I recommend booking in advance.
Basic Side Dishes
The basic side dishes are served at 5,000 won per person, including shrimp, sashimi, and sea squirt, perfect for a light snack while waiting for the crab.
Various other side dishes were also served. The corn was surprisingly chewy and delicious, and the kimchi pancakes and seaweed soup exceeded our expectations.
My daughters were excited too. The anticipation of enjoying king crab together as a family sparked lively conversations during our trip.
Enjoying King Crab as a Family
The crab shells were filled with rich meat, and the flavor was exquisite—light and not overly salty. We needed to make fried rice, but we were so eager to eat that we ended up scraping the shells clean!
The crabs were pre-prepared, making them easy to eat. The meat was so rich that I was surprised by the flavor throughout the meal.
Holding a claw, I couldn’t help but dance with joy. The sweet and delicate flavor of the crab meat filled my mouth, making me truly happy. Dipping the rich roe into the crab meat was a delightful combination.
The lobster was fresh and had a perfect chewy texture. Even on its own, the richness of the lobster filled my mouth with flavor.
