Every winter, I find myself craving soy sauce crab. Although I don't usually eat it often, the thought of warm rice topped with savory crab meat keeps coming to mind as the weather gets colder.

This winter, I decided to indulge and went to a famous soy sauce crab restaurant in Suwon with some friends.

One of my friends loves soy sauce crab and mentioned that they had previously enjoyed some delicious soy sauce crab in Suwon. So, I researched several well-known soy sauce crab spots in the area.

After carefully reading reviews and checking photos, locations, and parking options, I made a reservation at a place that seemed promising.

Upon arrival, the restaurant had a clean exterior and a friendly staff member welcomed us as soon as we walked in, leaving a great first impression.

The interior was surprisingly spacious and comfortable. The tables were well-spaced, making it easy to have conversations while dining with friends.

The decor felt organized and created a bright, warm atmosphere. Nowadays, ambiance is just as important as taste, and this place exceeded my expectations, lifting my spirits even before the meal began.

As soon as we sat down, warm water and neatly arranged side dishes were served. Each side dish was lovingly prepared, featuring a variety of options like fermented seafood, seasoned vegetables, and kimchi. You could tell they were homemade and not mass-produced.

The kimchi was perfectly balanced—not too spicy or sour—and paired wonderfully with the soy sauce crab. The fermented seafood was not overly salty, making it great with rice, and the seasoned vegetables tasted fresh and clean. It was clear that this restaurant pays a lot of attention to their side dishes.

When the highly anticipated soy sauce crab arrived, I was first struck by its appearance. The crab shell was filled with plump crab meat, soaked in a glossy soy sauce seasoning, and I couldn't help but salivate at first sight.

Opening the crab shell revealed a generous amount of crab meat, so fresh and firm that I hesitated to scoop it out with a spoon. The vibrant color of the crab meat confirmed its freshness.

I piled a generous amount of crab meat on a spoonful of rice, drizzled a bit of the soy sauce seasoning, and took a bite. The umami flavor exploded in my mouth, and I couldn't help but exclaim in delight.

The seasoning was not too salty and had a clean depth of flavor, making it impossible to get tired of. The crab meat was incredibly tender and juicy, and each bite was satisfying.

The unique nutty flavor of the crab was prominent, with no fishy taste, which even impressed my friend who usually doesn't eat soy sauce crab.

We also made sure to prepare the essential crab shell bibimbap. Scraping out the remaining crab meat from the shell, adding rice and a touch of the leftover soy sauce seasoning, and tossing it with chopped green chili peppers created a visually enticing dish.

As soon as I mixed it, the nutty aroma combined with the spicy scent of the chili peppers wafted up, making it a delightful treat.

Taking the first bite, the salty, nutty, and spicy flavors burst in my mouth, truly captivating my taste buds.

My friends couldn't put their spoons down and were busy enjoying the dish. One bowl of rice disappeared quickly, and honestly, I felt I could have eaten two bowls just of the bibimbap.

The seasoning and crab meat left in the shell blended perfectly with the bibimbap, allowing me to appreciate the true essence of the soy sauce crab once again.

During our meal, we decided to try another dish and ordered Hong-eo Samhap, which included moderately fermented skate, savory pork, and well-aged kimchi. The skate's flavor was mild enough for beginners to enjoy.

The chewy texture of the skate, the tenderness of the pork, and the tangy taste of the kimchi complemented each other perfectly, allowing us to alternate between the soy sauce crab and this dish without feeling overwhelmed.

As we finished our meal, the staff informed us that takeout was available, so we decided to pack some soy sauce crab to take home.

We could choose from various items like soy sauce crab, rock crabs, fermented seafood, and kimchi, all neatly packaged.

When I tried the takeout the next day, the freshness was preserved, and the seasoning tasted just as good as when we first had it. The soy sauce crab from Suwon is incomparable to what you find at the supermarket, and it was still delicious at home.

The price was also reasonable. Typically, soy sauce crab can be pricey, but here, the quality for the price was truly satisfying, making me want to return at least once a month.

Parking was not a concern either, as there was ample parking near the restaurant, and using the public parking lot provided a one-hour free parking voucher, making it convenient to drive there.

The atmosphere was pleasant throughout our meal, and the food was genuinely satisfying. It felt like a proper meal with friends after a long time.

After enjoying the soy sauce crab, everyone was happy, and we naturally talked about returning again in the future.

This was the most memorable meal I had this winter, and it was an experience that made me understand why so many people consistently love Suwon's soy sauce crab.

Next time, I want to visit with my family and take home a few more packages to enjoy the soy sauce crab conveniently at home. A bite of savory and salty soy sauce crab over warm rice is more comforting and warming than any other food.

If you love soy sauce crab, I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. You won't regret it!
