A Hidden Gem in Dasan: Fresh Oysters and More at Dasan Daeha-gui

After a workout, my gym buddy and I were looking for a place to grab a bite. He suggested a popular oyster spot in Dasan, and I tagged along without high expectations.
I usually need a certain baseline level of quality to be satisfied with a meal, and I wasn't sure if Dasan could deliver authentic seafood.
But to my surprise, the atmosphere and the food were both great! So, I'm excited to introduce you to this fantastic oyster restaurant near Donong Station in Dasan.

Grilled Shrimp is Still Alive and Well!
Apparently, this place was already quite well-known in Dasan as Dasan Daeha-gui (Dasan Grilled Shrimp).
I was a bit bummed thinking the shrimp season was over, but the owner is brilliant! While waiting for the next shrimp season, they also offer oyster dishes.
Thanks to that, we ordered the 'Grilled Shrimp + Butter-Grilled Shrimp Heads' as our main dish and decided to complement it with the winter seasonal oyster menu!
The table was set with a basic burner, scissors, ingredients, and side dishes.
Once everything was ready, they brought out freshly caught shrimp and placed them on the grill. Watching them turn red made my mouth water.
Shrimp is always a good choice. The firm, bouncy texture is a given, and the sweet flavor that fills your mouth with every bite makes you wonder if it's really the end of the season. Ordering it was a great decision!
Especially when we grilled the heads in butter until golden brown, as recommended by the owner, the combination of sweet and savory was incredible.
Even though it wasn't the peak season for shrimp, they still managed to deliver this level of quality, which just goes to show that places with a solid foundation are different.
Incredible Freshness: Tongyeong Oysters and Steamed Oysters at Donong Station, Dasan
Now it's time to try the winter seasonal oyster menu!
I had high expectations because the owner said they source the highest quality oysters and rock oysters (seokhwa) from Tongyeong, and you could tell they were fresh just by looking at them!
Oysters are known as a winter health food, so I felt like I was getting a proper nutritional boost!
The rock oysters were delicious on their own, but I personally preferred dipping them in gochujang (chili paste) for a tangy kick!
We waited for the steamed oysters to cook, and then the staff peeled them for us. The glistening oyster meat that appeared as soon as they were opened was amazing.
The moment I put it in my mouth, there was no fishy taste at all. Instead, there was a sweet and salty flavor of the sea that was incredible.
The chewy yet tender texture was perfectly detected by my well-trained (from working out!) tongue. Haha.
Spicy and Sweet: The Owner's Secret Recipe Oyster Salad
Feeling a bit unsatisfied with just the steamed oysters, we ordered the 'Oyster Salad' as an extra dish!
Just by looking at this dish, I knew it would be delicious (I saw people eating it at the next table, and it looked amazing).
The fresh oysters were tossed in a sweet, sour, and subtly spicy special sauce. Even the color was appetizing.
The sauce wasn't too overpowering, and it had a perfect balance that didn't mask the natural flavor of the oysters!
When you pick up an oyster and put it in your mouth, the savory flavor of the sauce spreads first, followed by the burst of fresh oyster juice. The combination was so good that it felt wrong not to have a drink with it...
The Owner's Seafood Ramen
Honestly, I was so full I thought I would explode, but my friend kept nagging me, saying I had to try the ramen.
At first, I was full and thought, 'Eh, ramen is just ramen,' but apparently, it was the owner's secret recipe 'Seafood Ramen'!
And the result? Yeah... I lost.
This ramen was so amazing that the expression 'super jackpot' wouldn't be an exaggeration. It was truly one of the best ramens I've ever had!
The moment I took a spoonful of the broth, the deep, savory flavor of the seafood hit me intensely. This wasn't just your average instant ramen.
Perhaps it's because of the owner's expertise in the broth base and the addition of fresh seafood, but the broth was incredibly rich and flavorful.
Steamed Oysters at Donong Station, Dasan: Why This Place?
Honestly, there are so many restaurants these days, but it's really hard to find a place that is both true to the basics and doesn't miss out on something special.
Dasan Daeha-gui has carried on the reputation of grilled shrimp and perfectly showcases the winter season menu of oyster dishes!
In particular, the combination of the freshest oysters sourced from Tongyeong and the owner's secret recipe seafood ramen seems to be a menu you can only find here!
At this point, I understood why this place was gaining word-of-mouth as the best steamed oyster restaurant near Donong Station in Dasan.
This is a place where you can bring even the pickiest of friends without getting any complaints. If you're looking for a place with a clean atmosphere that serves fresh, high-quality seafood, then come here without hesitation!
Trust me and give it a visit!!
