When living in Yeosu, I thought I knew quite a few good restaurants, but I discovered some truly hidden gems. Recently, a friend from the same department visited Yeosu, and I felt a bit disappointed that I couldn't take them to a great restaurant. I was pondering where to go when a local friend suddenly said, "Hey, have you been to the Haenyeo Table yet? You absolutely have to go there for authentic Yeosu Hanjeongsik!" Their strong recommendation piqued my curiosity, and I decided to check it out.

It was a drizzly day, and the new restaurant had a remarkably clean exterior. The interior was bright and inviting, giving off a sophisticated vibe with its white and gold decor. I initially thought the name 'Haenyeo Table' was just a concept, but I learned that they actually use seafood caught by haenyeo (female divers), which heightened my expectations.

As soon as I walked in, I was captivated by the beautiful interior. The basalt stone decorations gave it a touch of Jeju Island, making me feel like I was on a little getaway. According to my friend, the style originated from Sanbangsan in Jeju, which made the atmosphere feel truly special.

The idea of dining on a table filled with ingredients caught by haenyeo was exciting, and it was hard to find a place that offers such a genuine experience in Yeosu. The ambiance immediately felt right. Before sitting down, I noticed how beautifully decorated the restroom area was, which I found quite impressive for a restaurant.

There was also a private dining room next to the restroom, perfect for family gatherings or group visitors. My friend mentioned that this place is becoming a hot spot for Yeosu's traditional meals, and I could see why.

Once seated, I was amazed to see the Yeosu Hanjeongsik spread out before me. The table was filled with an abundance of side dishes, easily more than 15 varieties. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, which was truly touching. I was particularly surprised to see both soy sauce marinated crab and spicy marinated crab as staples, perfectly cleaned and ready to eat.

The appearance of the grilled fish was overwhelming; I never expected such a large fish to be served whole. It paired perfectly with the Yeosu Mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) that followed. The fish was so big that my friend and I simultaneously exclaimed, "Wow..." This presentation made me feel like I truly experienced Yeosu Hanjeongsik.

Next, I tried the abalone mulhoe, which was impressive with its delightful chewy texture. The Yeosu mulhoe was a huge success! I initially thought it would be a small portion, but it turned out to be quite generous. With fresh vegetables and plenty of abalone, I immediately knew I was in for a treat.

No meal is complete without bossam (boiled pork), which was tender and melted in my mouth. It was delicious on its own, and wrapping it in pickled radish or cabbage added a new flavor, making the meal even more enjoyable.

Instead of regular rice, we were served rice cooked in a pot, infused with seaweed and pumpkin for a healthy touch. This thoughtful presentation made it clear why this restaurant is renowned for Yeosu's traditional meals.

After finishing the rice, I poured water over the leftover rice to make nurungji (crispy rice), which had a delightful aroma and was incredibly comforting. I found myself repeatedly reaching for the crab, even after feeling full, as the flavors were irresistible.

Having the seaweed soup and Dolsan's pickled mustard greens alongside the meal made me feel like I was experiencing the essence of Yeosu. The meticulous arrangement of dishes explained why this place is so popular among those seeking Yeosu Hanjeongsik.

Feeling satisfied, I decided to order some live octopus. The freshness was so remarkable that it was difficult to pick it up with chopsticks, adding an element of fun to the meal. Eating it with the Yeosu mulhoe felt like a true feast from the sea.

As I looked over the entire spread once more, I was left speechless. Living in Yeosu, I can return anytime, but my friend left with a look of complete satisfaction, saying, "This place is amazing!" This restaurant truly embodies authentic Yeosu Hanjeongsik and is a must-visit for anyone looking for traditional meals in Yeosu.
