My friend insisted we try grilled cutlassfish.
They argued that it wouldn't make sense to visit Jeju without tasting it, so we made lunch plans.
I heard that there's a famous restaurant in Eco Land known for its fernbrake cutlassfish stew, so we headed there.
1. Sonmat Village Eco Land Saryeoni Main Branch

After a ten-minute drive from our accommodation, we arrived at our destination.
As we parked and got out of the car, excitement started to build.
The exterior was neatly organized, making a great first impression.
Upon entering, sunlight poured in through the windows.
Each table was bathed in natural light, creating a bright atmosphere.
The restaurant was bustling with customers, a sure sign of its popularity.
Celebrity autographs covered the walls, and seeing familiar names heightened my anticipation.
It was clear that Eco Land is a trusted dining spot.
As we opened the menu, the dilemma of choice began.
I was tempted by both the whole grilled cutlassfish and the fernbrake cutlassfish stew, along with various other dishes.
Ultimately, my friend and I decided to order both.
When the food arrived, our table quickly filled up.
The colorful dishes were a feast for the eyes.
With such a spread, taking out the camera was a must.
The seaweed salad was the first side dish to catch my attention.
It had a chewy texture and a subtle ocean flavor.
Eating it with a spoonful of rice was already delicious.
The kimchi was refreshingly crunchy, with a perfect balance of sourness and spiciness.
It would be perfect as a palate cleanser with meat dishes.
The garlic stem salad was wonderfully crunchy.
With a savory gochujang seasoning, it was a rice thief.
The toasted sesame sprinkled on top added a nutty flavor.
I picked up a piece of braised lotus root.
The crunch and sweetness created a delightful harmony in my mouth.
If the side dishes were this good, the main course would surely be exceptional.
The stir-fried fish cakes glistened enticingly.
They were stir-fried in a sweet soy sauce, making them easy to eat in one bite.
The flavor was subtly addictive.
Finally, the fernbrake cutlassfish stew made its grand entrance.
It was bubbling in its pot, releasing a spicy aroma.
The fernbrake was densely packed among the bright red seasoning.
I fished out a piece with my chopsticks.
The seasoning had soaked in so well that it felt like it would go down smoothly with rice.
It was a moment showcasing the true value of Jeju fernbrake.
I served a generous portion into my bowl.
With just enough broth to make me crave a bowl of rice.
I picked up both the cutlassfish and fernbrake.
As soon as the first bite hit my mouth, I was in awe.
The spiciness enveloped my tongue, followed by waves of umami.
The fish was tender, perfectly melding with the seasoning.
The whole grilled cutlassfish made a confident entrance.
Its impressive length was visually overwhelming.
The golden-brown skin shone appetizingly.
A staff member approached and skillfully removed the bones.
Their expertise in separating the meat from the bones was professional.
I had the luxury of just eating without lifting a finger.
I picked up a piece of the grilled fish with my chopsticks.
It was a completely different kind of delicateness compared to the stew.
The salt was just right, allowing the cutlassfish's natural flavor to shine.
The cold raw squid salad was refreshing on the side.
The squid glistened in its sweet and sour dressing.
One bite spread a wave of freshness throughout my body.
The abalone seafood stew arrived, bubbling away.
Abalone and shrimp showcased their presence in the broth.
Taking a spoonful felt like bringing the entire ocean to my mouth.
We finished with sea urchin seaweed soup.
The savory broth was infused with the flavor of sea urchin, creating an explosion of umami.
My friend and I exchanged glances and simultaneously gave a thumbs up to the Eco Land restaurant.

It was my first time visiting, and finding it on the navigation was easy.
Since the carrot cake was their signature dish, I ordered it, and the sponge was fluffy with a subtle carrot aroma.
Pairing it with a slightly bitter coffee created a perfect sweet-salty balance.
