When traveling to Jeju with my child, I wanted to have a proper meal for lunch.

While searching for recommended restaurants near the Jeju Buyeong Hotel, I came across Hanra Galchi Jungmun, a place frequented by locals, and decided to visit.

The restaurant is conveniently located near Jungmun Saekdal Beach, making it perfect for a meal before enjoying the beautiful Jeju sea.

Although there were many tables, the spacious arrangement allowed for a comfortable dining experience even when the restaurant was busy.

They had high chairs available, which is always a relief when dining out with a baby.

The self-serve bar was well-stocked with side dishes, regularly maintained by staff, ensuring cleanliness and freshness.

Settling into a comfortable spot, I browsed the menu and found a variety of set meals, including braised and grilled mackerel, leading me to order without hesitation.

Before long, our table was filled with beautifully presented dishes, each looking incredibly appetizing.

The first thing that caught my eye was the assortment of side dishes, all made in-house, which heightened my expectations for taste.

I tried the kimchi first, and its perfect fermentation provided a crunchy texture and a tangy flavor that whetted my appetite.

The corn salad was a hit with both adults and children, combining sweetness and creaminess that made it irresistible.

After sampling the sides, I turned my attention to a soup filled with seaweed, which was incredibly comforting and flavorful.

Instead of regular rice, they served a stone pot rice filled with abalone, freshly cooked and aromatic.

The dish was served on a hot plate to keep it warm, featuring grilled black pork patties and grilled abalone.

The abalone was surprisingly tender, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients.

The black pork patties had a richer flavor than regular ones, perfectly balanced between sweet and salty, making them a hit with kids.

I was initially surprised to find a dish of Dombey meat included in the set, but it was free of any gamey taste and had an excellent meat-to-fat ratio.

As a mackerel specialty restaurant, they also offered unique dishes like fried mackerel, which was crispy and delicious when dipped in sauce.

Finally, we were presented with the signature dish, the whole grilled mackerel, which was generously sized and thick.

It was perfectly seasoned, delicious on its own, and paired wonderfully with rice.

Alongside the grilled mackerel, I couldn't miss trying the boneless braised mackerel, which was visually enticing and packed with flavor.

The deep umami taste of the fish melted in my mouth, leaving me thoroughly satisfied.

Every dish was delightful, making Hanra Galchi Jungmun a must-visit restaurant in Jeju, and I look forward to returning.
