Exploring the Beautiful Cherry Blossoms of Chungnam

Are those pink hydrangeas?
Layer upon layer of petals come together,
Creating blossoms as beautiful as hydrangeas,
In vibrant hues of five-colored double cherry blossoms,
And the delicate and mysterious blue cherry blossoms.
Embark on a journey to Chungnam Seosan!
The double cherry blossoms at Munsoosa and Gaeshimsa in Seosan, Chungnam,
Begin to bloom around mid-April, just as the regular cherry blossoms start to fade,
And can be enjoyed until early May.
Wearing pink, white, or light yellow outfits that match the flower colors makes for bright and lively photos.
The fluffy blossoms
Create a picturesque scene at Munsoosa and Gaeshimsa,
Attracting numerous visitors.
The two sites are about a 15-minute drive apart,
Making them ideal for a joint visit.
As of my visit on April 24, 2026,
Both locations were over 90% in bloom.
These two places possess similar yet distinct charms.
1. Munsoosa
The epitome of a stunning flower tunnel.
The long, flat walking path from the entrance of Munsoosa's temporary parking lot to the temple is impressive,
With low-hanging branches that create a feeling of being enveloped in flowers.
Despite being a weekday during my visit,
There were so many people enjoying the blossoms that it was hard to take pictures.
The entrance to Munsoosa is a single lane,
So during peak visiting times, it operates as a one-way road.
There were quite a few tour buses as well.
Although I couldn't explore deep into Munsoosa due to time constraints,
The flowers at the entrance were so beautiful that they captivated my attention.
Like clusters of hydrangeas,
The blossoms were so luscious and lovely,
They still linger in my memory.
2. Gaeshimsa Double Cherry Blossoms and Blue Cherry Blossoms
Gaeshimsa was the first place I visited before heading to Munsoosa.
The square pond at the entrance, along with the wooden bridge, is captivating.
The double cherry blossoms harmoniously blend with the temple's tiled roofs,
Making it a popular spot for spring flower viewing in Chungnam.
The only blue cherry blossoms in the country
Exude both mystery and freshness.
The colors embody the essence of spring that I adore.
At Gaeshimsa, flowers bloom in various delightful spots,
Making it easy to stroll around and enjoy the scenery.
Though there's a slightly inclined path from the parking lot that takes about 15 minutes to walk,
It wasn't as difficult as I expected.
The fresh greenery made the walk enjoyable.
In front of the blue cherry tea room at Gaeshimsa,
There is a place to tie wishes written on colorful papers, which is quite pretty.
Next to the wish area is the blue cherry tea room,
Where you can try yuzu tea and blue cherry tea.
As a must-visit location for spring flower viewing in Chungnam,
Gaeshimsa and Munsoosa are expected to be beautifully adorned with petals until this weekend.
Hurry and visit!
