When you visit Daejeon, there’s an unmissable itinerary.

It's the Seongshim Bakery tour!

After my daughter’s important exam,

we decided to take a bread tour solely focused on Seongshim Bakery.

After the bread tour, it was lunchtime.

We stopped by Seongshim Bakery to enjoy the delicious bread and then headed out for lunch.

Since we were in Daejeon, I wanted to try the famous Tofu Stir-Fry instead of a regular lunch.

So, we went to Gwangcheon Restaurant.

???? Two-hour wait at Gwangcheon Restaurant?!

We were excited after seeing the delicious bread at Seongshim Bakery,

but there weren't many people in front of the restaurant.

I thought, "Awesome! We can eat here!"

When I inquired inside, they told me the wait time was two hours.

Having already waited over two hours at Seongshim Bakery,

I couldn't wait another two hours for a restaurant.

I bought the bread but hadn’t eaten yet,

and I just couldn't wait two hours for Kalguksu, no matter how delicious it was.

I lack patience.

I knew it was a popular place,

but waiting two hours was a bit too much for my schedule.

Especially after the Seongshim Bakery tour, I was already hungry.

Should I wait two hours?

After a moment of contemplation, I looked around,

and I found that the neighboring restaurant also served Tofu Stir-Fry.

So, I boldly changed direction.

People similar to me lined up at the neighboring restaurant.^^

Moving to the neighboring restaurant

I gave up on Gwangcheon Restaurant and lined up at the one next door.

I waited about 20 minutes before getting in.

At first, I was slightly hesitant.

“Will it be good here too?”

“Isn’t it better to eat at the place I originally planned?”

But hunger quickly sharpens your choices. ????

I decided on a place where I could eat right away instead of waiting two hours!

Ultimately, it was just okay.

????️ Ordered Tofu Stir-Fry + Squid Stir-Fry

You take off your shoes to enter the restaurant.

The restaurant is divided into two levels.

We were guided to the second floor.

After reviewing the menu,

I decided to order Tofu and Squid Stir-Fry.

Having come to Daejeon, I had to try Tofu Stir-Fry,

and I was curious about Squid Stir-Fry, so I ordered the half-and-half menu.

I also added a serving of noodles and a bowl of rice.

As we waited for the food to arrive,

the red sauce made my mouth water just by looking at it.

Since it was the second floor,

the tables were a bit messy right after people left.

Tofu Stir-Fry + Squid Stir-Fry

The kimchi came as a fresh salad, and the broth was clear.

I had always wanted to try Tofu and Squid Stir-Fry in Daejeon, and the red sauce looked appetizing.

It's a stir-fry dish with both tofu and squid.

The large chunks of tofu blended well with the spicy seasoning.

At first, the seasoning looked quite spicy,

but after taking a bite, it was more than just heat.

It was spicy and savory,

perfect for eating with rice.

The tofu was soft, and it paired well with the seasoning.

The squid was chewy and matched the spicy sauce well.

If Tofu Stir-Fry is soft,

the Squid Stir-Fry has a chewy texture, making me glad I ordered both.

The spicy seasoning made it great to eat with rice.

You can mix it with rice or add noodles,

and it's delicious either way.

After the Seongshim Bakery tour,

I ended up having a hearty meal instead of just bread. ????

Many people were dining at nearby restaurants after the tour.

Seongshim Bakery seems to boost the local economy.

There are many cafes around where you can enjoy Seongshim Bakery's bread.

⭐ Review of Tofu Stir-Fry in Daejeon

This trip to Daejeon didn’t go as planned, but it turned out to be a fun meal.

We intended to go to Gwangcheon Restaurant but ended up at the neighboring place due to the unexpected two-hour wait!

Travel always has its surprises. ㅠ.ㅠ

If I go to Daejeon again,

I want to check the wait time at Gwangcheon Restaurant first.

But if waiting two hours is tough, exploring other stir-fry places nearby is a good option!

If you want a solid meal after the Seongshim Bakery tour,
