Seo Dong-ju Prepares for a Neighborhood Flea Market, Shares Thoughts on Luxury Consumption, and Recounts a Hilarious Incident at a VIP Event
Broadcaster Seo Dong-ju recently revealed her flea market preparation process in a YouTube video.
She explained, "I'm considering holding it at a neighborhood cafe near my house or in my yard, or both."
She plans to donate some of the sales proceeds, saying, "It would be great if we raised a lot, but since I'll be selling things cheaply, I thought it would be good to add some of my own money to reach a reasonable donation amount." She expressed her commitment to making a positive impact.
The flea market is expected to have a friendly 'neighborhood festival' atmosphere, rather than a luxury-focused pop-up store or a trendy area.
Honest Values on Luxury Consumption
In the video, when the production team asked, "Is there a particular reason why you don't buy luxury goods?" Seo Dong-ju shared her own standards.
She revealed, "I try to minimize leather consumption, but many luxury goods are made of leather. If it's a luxury item that's not leather, I sometimes use it."
She also stated, "Another thing is that I don't have a lavish lifestyle. I live within my means," showcasing a focus on practicality over superficiality.
Her attitude of considering her financial situation and values instead of luxury goods resonated with many viewers.
'Compact Car' Incident at a VIP Event
A particularly eye-catching part of the video was an anecdote from a VIP event.
Seo Dong-ju began, "I recently went to a VIP event for a large brand, and I drive a compact car. There were rows of really nice black cars, and I was in between them."
She continued, "The staff thought I had entered the wrong way and told me to turn around. They told me to turn around because the event was in progress."
She added that she turned the car around while the staff inside the glass building were all watching.
She expressed her embarrassment, saying, "I usually don't care about things like that, but I was a little embarrassed. They were watching as I got out."
A Mindset of Not Losing Confidence
Despite the embarrassment, she went into the event, stating, "I got out and went in, and I thought, 'I need to be more confident.'"
She also expressed her affection for her compact car. "I love compact cars, they're really convenient. There's no better car, and there have been many times when I would have been in trouble without it."
She added, "I came with a mindset of needing to be more confident," maintaining a positive attitude.
She honestly shared the awkward moment, saying, "It was the first time I've ever been embarrassed in my life," with a laugh.
Plans to Change Cars? Still a Compact Car!
When the production team asked, "Are you thinking of changing cars?" Seo Dong-ju revealed that she had already applied for another compact car.
She said, "I applied for the next Ray model that's coming out. I'm a rough driver, so it's really convenient."
She added, "Even if I go to a place with a parking crisis, I can easily fit in. It's so great, but I was just a little embarrassed that day," reiterating her strong affection for compact cars.
Her attitude of cheerfully overcoming an awkward incident and proactively choosing her lifestyle was impressive.
