Visit to Mugunghwa Arboretum in April 2026

In April 2026, I visited the Mugunghwa Arboretum without any high expectations.
Since it wasn't the season for Mugunghwa flowers to bloom, I entered with a casual mindset.
To my surprise, the experience was quite the opposite!
If I were to compare it to a fashion show, while the Mugunghwa prepares for its grand finale, the earlier plants showcased on stage were simply stunning.
The floral display in the Mugunghwa Arboretum this April was truly breathtaking.
Let’s take a stroll around the arboretum.
This course takes about an hour and is suitable for families with children.
There is a spacious parking lot available, so you can visit without worrying about parking.
The entrance features a stone monument engraved with the name of the Mugunghwa Arboretum, surrounded by Mugunghwa trees.
Although the Mugunghwa trees are summer flowers, they are currently trimmed to prepare for their final show.
The Mugunghwa Arboretum is a public arboretum operated by the city of Boryeong, themed around Mugunghwa, collecting, displaying, and researching various plants to enrich the lives of citizens.
With an area of 239,723 square meters, it includes various facilities such as a Mugunghwa exhibition hall, management office, succulent greenhouse, purification and ecological pond, cedar forest, playground, Mugunghwa theme garden, forest sky path, exhibition greenhouse, rock garden, and Boryeong Wood Culture Experience Center.
As I entered the arboretum, I began my journey at the flower garden, followed by the purification pond, a small bridge overlooking the stream and forsythia flower path, the Metasequoia road, the ground cover plant garden, the ecological pond, the exhibition hall, the Boryeong Wood Culture Experience Center, the pear flower tunnel, the succulent greenhouse, and finally the garden.
The flower garden offers a peaceful retreat in nature, showcasing a variety of flowers in full bloom, including tulips, purple muscari, fragrant hyacinths, and the unique pink flowers of Allium tuberosum.
The purification pond invites visitors to admire its tranquility and the harmony with the pavilion nearby.
As I walked along the stream, I crossed a small wooden bridge and enjoyed the view of the clear water and the forsythia flower path.
Now, let’s proceed to the Metasequoia road, which still needs a bit more time to fully embrace spring.
The path is adorned with the red hues of the tricolor dogwood, creating a picturesque scene.
Next, I explored the ground cover plant garden, where small plants thrive close to the ground, showcasing their vibrant life force.
Upon reaching the ecological pond, I was greeted by the sight of a waterwheel in motion, surrounded by cherry blossoms and blooming daffodils.
After visiting the exhibition hall, I admired the beautiful cherry blossoms while making my way to the Boryeong Wood Culture Experience Center.
Though I did not enter the experience center this time, I was eager to visit the pear flower tunnel, which was still awaiting its full bloom.
Finally, I explored the succulent greenhouse, where the small flowers of the succulents left everyone in awe.
The garden felt like a cozy front yard, complete with comfortable swings for a moment of relaxation.
As I swung gently, I reminisced about my visit to the Mugunghwa Arboretum, longing to return in the season when the Mugunghwa flowers bloom.
Experience the complete tranquility of the Boryeong Mugunghwa Arboretum!
