Sustainable Marine Resource Recovery in Sinan County

Hello from Sinan County! π
Sinan County is committed to creating a healthy marine ecosystem and providing a stable income base for fishermen.
We are continuously carrying out fishery resource recovery projects.
On May 29, we released 180,000 juvenile rockfish, followed by another release of 850,000 juvenile rockfish in the Okdo waters on July 2.
The released rockfish are healthy specimens measuring over 6 cm in length.
These excellent specimens have passed all infectious disease tests conducted by the National Fisheries Products Quality Management Service.
The release was conducted on-site with local fishing communities, adding more significance to the event.
By creating spawning and habitat areas, we aim to enrich our seas.
The area where this release took place is designated for a rockfish spawning and habitat creation project, with a total investment of 4 billion won (800 million won annually) from 2023 to 2027.
So far, we have released 770,000 marine fish species, installed 625 artificial reefs, and focused on the transplantation of seaweeds such as kelp and sea lettuce.
These efforts have helped create an environment where marine organisms can spawn and grow healthily.
This year marks the fourth year of the project.
In September, we plan to install additional artificial reefs and conduct catch surveys in the project area, along with marine waste collection efforts.
We are also expanding regional fishery resource recovery projects.
From 2022 to the present, we have released 1.51 million juvenile rockfish and installed 1,218 artificial reefs.
We are dedicated to creating a rich marine ecosystem and establishing a sustainable fishing base.
Moving forward, Sinan County will continue to pass on a healthy sea to future generations and create a sustainable fishery environment in collaboration with fishermen.
