Revitalizing Memories: The Transformation of Dangjin Cinema into Cultural Hub

Do you remember the old 'Dangjin Cinema' building that holds precious memories for our citizens?
Once a place where we enjoyed exciting moments watching movies, it has now transformed into the 'Dangjin Cultural Communication Center,' infusing the daily lives of citizens with the breath of art.
This location, revitalized through the Dangjin 1-dong urban regeneration project, has become a hub where citizens can create and enjoy culture, going beyond just being a mere building.
I, as a member of the press, had the opportunity to explore every corner of this place, where nostalgia meets modern sensibility. Let's take a closer look at the Dangjin Cultural Communication Center together.
Situated in the historic downtown of Dangjin, this four-story building features a lounge and exhibition space on the second floor, while the third floor houses an open studio, medium and small practice rooms, and creative spaces.
From the outside, it is clearly marked as the Cultural Communication Center, making it easy to find.
To enter the Cultural Communication Center, I followed the pathway on the left side of the building. On the way to the entrance, I was able to check the bulletin board for ongoing events at the center.
On the second floor, I found the 'Imi-young Solo Exhibition' currently taking place, so I went up to take a closer look.
This exhibition runs from May 12 to June 11 and invites visitors into a world of childlike innocence through works that evoke memories of 'the clearest and most unadorned times.'
The pieces reflect the artist's childhood experiences, memories of old neighborhood alleyways lost to redevelopment, and articles from 1976, the year the artist was born.
The exhibition space in the gallery was spacious, and there were areas for visitors to rest while viewing the works, which I appreciated.
If you're in the area and interested in the exhibition, I highly recommend visiting.
The Dangjin Cultural Communication Center has a dedicated website where you can explore detailed information about the four floors and how to reserve each facility.
To book a facility, you need to fill out and submit a reservation application form.
For those interested in booking, I have attached images related to the facilities for your reference.
The rental fees are quite affordable, with the performance hall costing 50,000 won per day and the medium practice room about 10,000 won per session, so be sure to check the website for reservations.
In summary, we explored the 'Dangjin Cultural Communication Center,' which beautifully holds the memories of the past while blooming new cultural flowers.
What I felt during my visit is that it is not just a remodeled building but a true 'vessel' where the dreams and passions of citizens can be contained.
It is heartwarming to have a space where anyone can freely walk in, enjoy art, and connect with neighbors to find joy in everyday life.
How about visiting with your child to enjoy the exhibition or stopping by after work to pursue your hobbies? Every step you take can breathe new life into the downtown area of Dangjin.
In a place where art, once distant, becomes part of everyday life, I hope you create your own new memories at the Dangjin Cultural Communication Center.
