Learning and Growing in the Community

Hello, I am Jeong Su-bin from the Dangjin City Social Media Supporters.
A virtuous cycle has begun where local residents learn and share their knowledge back with the community.
On July 1st and 2nd, the 'Integrated Program for Strengthening Community Capacity – Training for Community Instructors' was held at the Seowoomul Cafe in the Happy Issue Center of Sinpyeong-myeon.
This training aimed to cultivate professional instructors who can engage in community activities and help residents grow as educators and activists within their own community.
As the importance of lifelong learning grows, the role of 'community instructors' who share their experiences and talents with the community is gaining attention.
This program was significant as it focused on nurturing people within the community, creating new job opportunities, and establishing a foundation for residents to learn and grow together.
The first training took place at the Seowoomul Cafe, a multi-cultural space in Sinpyeong-myeon.
In the warm atmosphere, participants greeted each other, easing the initial awkwardness of their first meeting.
As the training progressed, the vibrant atmosphere was filled with laughter and conversation.
The first session began with a personal color diagnosis.
Personal color theory identifies colors that best complement an individual's skin tone, hair, and eye color, enhancing their overall image.
Recently, it has gained popularity not only for job interviews but also in various fields such as lecturing, broadcasting, and content creation.
During the training, participants learned about the characteristics of spring warm tones, summer cool tones, autumn warm tones, and winter cool tones based on the seasonal color system, and had the opportunity to diagnose their own colors.
The instructor demonstrated changes in skin tone, brightness, and vitality by holding various color fabrics under participants' faces, leading to surprise and laughter as they observed each other's transformations.
I also had a personal diagnosis, and the result was a warm tone.
Previously, I would choose clothes and makeup based solely on my favorite colors, but learning about personal colors has helped me understand which colors suit me best, which will be beneficial for my clothing choices, photography, and teaching activities in the future.
Especially in the teaching profession, where one often presents themselves in front of many people, creating an image that suits oneself can be a competitive advantage.
The training did not end with just the color diagnosis.
In a lecture titled 'Secrets of an Attractive Instructor,' we discussed various competencies that a good instructor should possess.
Participants found it particularly impressive that communication skills, confidence, and empathy are as important as the instructor's expertise.
No matter how good the content is, if the delivery method is lacking, the effectiveness of the training can diminish.
Conversely, an instructor who listens well and creates a comfortable atmosphere can create a more memorable learning experience.
The instructor also shared practical tips applicable in actual teaching environments, including managing first impressions, facial expressions, voice tone, posture, and image making.
Throughout the lecture, participants actively asked questions and shared their experiences, fully engaging in the training.
Though they were all meeting for the first time, the common goal of learning fostered natural conversations and an atmosphere of anticipation for the next class.
A community instructor is not just someone who teaches.
They play a role in sharing local culture, exchanging experiences among residents, and connecting various generations from children to the elderly.
Particularly, the experiences of living in the community can serve as educational content, making community instructors uniquely qualified for this role.
Recently, community instructors have been active in diverse fields such as cooking, crafts, environment, culture and arts, history, digital utilization, and content creation, playing a crucial role in promoting lifelong learning among residents.
This training program aims not only to complete the education but also to grow into instructors who can actively participate in community programs.
The eyes of the participants reflected their excitement for new challenges.
Some wanted to develop long-held hobbies into lectures, while others sought to expand their professional experience.
The process of residents with diverse experiences coming together to learn and grow is a significant asset for the community.
Through this coverage, I felt strongly that learning has no age limit and that there are far more possibilities within the community than one might think.
For some, it marks a new beginning, and for others, it is the first step toward realizing long-held dreams.
The community instructor training program that began in Sinpyeong-myeon is more than just an educational program; it showcases a community where residents become active participants in their growth.
I look forward to seeing what community instructors will emerge from this program and what knowledge they will share across the region.
Learning in the community, growing in the community, and sharing knowledge back with the community creates a virtuous cycle.
I hope this small first step in Sinpyeong-myeon leads to blooming possibilities for more residents throughout Dangjin.
